    Re: Ian Kinsler

He's not this year's Shelton, he's this year's Brian Roberts. A very hot start but a power hitter he is not. He'll be one of the better second basemen in the league (which isn't saying a lot) and a good fit in anyone's lineup.

Depends on what you mean by "power hitter." He hit 14 HRs in his rookie season in just 120 games (he was hurt for a while and then had to split some time with DeRosa being hot).

I'm predicting 25-30 HRs out of him, which would be fantastic. I also think he'll hit around .285.

I'm with the majority here on this one (last year, I was correct about Shelton falling off).

I can't see Kinsler having that same dropoff because he isn't expected to have awesome numbers like Shelton was last season. 7 Home runs is impressive nonetheless, but I think he'll still finish with 23 or more, maybe even get close to 30. He's going to get a few stolen bases and I think he'll finish the year hitting around .290-.313. Very good numbers for a second basemen.

Ian Kinsler was a sleeper in fantasy leagues in a ton of drafts.

I've been worshipping Kinsler since last season. The man; the legend. Ian Kinsler.

He had 14 or 15 last season as a rookie with a damaged hand.

I'm guessing he will turn into a solid 20 steals 20 HR man.

Kinsler's average has dropped 60 points over the past 11 games. I think he's now sitting at .246.

No one said he was a consistent hitter.

If you were expect big 40-home run numbers with a .350+ average you are wrong. He's projected to be a 20-20 type of player.

It's too bad he looks to be beneficiary of that ballpark (10 home runs last year there to 4 elsewhere).

He's still better than Josh Barfield.

Is Kinsler ever going to turn it around? I have in him in every league Im in and have benched him in favor of guys like Durham, Hudson and Upton and I honestly have zero faith in him anymore. Ron Washington keeps moving him around in the lineup and I cant help but think that has a little something to do with his slump. Hopefully he turns it around soon, IM honestly surprised that they havent either benched him or sent him down to the minors to get some things worked out.

Kinsler is fine. A player who is that hot always cools down and though his slump is pretty bad, I'm not surprised or concerned. He's a pretty good hitter and will come out of his funk. Will he repeat his early season performance? Doubtful. But he will definitely emerge as one of the premier 2B offensively by the end of the year.

I'm not surprised with Kinsler's slump. He's still young, and still has a respectable upside. I still think he'll get in the mid-20's in home runs this year, and can also swipe bases. Don't expect his average to stay in the .200-.220 range.
