I didn't follow his career much in the majors, but he was a great pitcher at Auburn. RIP

Hancock may not have been a household name but he was a big part to the Cardinals success last year. Also, while he only pitched 3 games for them back in 2002 Hancock is also a part of Red Sox nation as well.

Hancock leaves a career record of 9-7 with a 4.21 ERA and 1 Save in 102 games with the Red Sox, Phillies, Reds and Cardinals.

          RIP.

Yeah, it's a pretty sad day down here in St Louis. I went Friday night had had a blast as I always do, when the Cubs play the Cards here. So I had tickets for tonight and my buddy sends me a text this morning, and I thought he was just screwing with me.....obviously not, kind of a dark cloud hangin over the city right now. I feel really bad for Cards fans as they are very classy organization and group of fans.

It's been all over the news here in Birmingham. Josh grew up here (I actually met him a few times when I was at Hoover and he was at Vestavia Hills..our rival High School...then he went to Auburn).

We are the same age and this is a sad sad day for both folks here in Birmingham and of course fellow Auburn grads.

                      RIP Josh.

When you're a fan like we are, we talk about the future of our favorite players as if it's a foregone conclusion.

It's sad incidents like this that remind us that the future is anything but a foregone conclusion, and that sometimes rather than just not performing as well as we had predicted, their lives are unexpectedly and suddenly taken from us.

The saddest thing about this whole ordeal is that I doubt many people had Hancock performing very poorly in the future in their predictions -- he was a great pitcher, and he will be sorely missed as a friend, an inspiration, and a player as well.

                              RIP Josh Hancock.

Its a sad day for baseball may he rest in peace. However, (being Devil's advocate) sports figures are put on a higher platform than many others in our society, and yes its sad that baseball lost a family member but let's not overlook those men and women that die nearly every day defending our right to play the game. Those are the ones the media doesn't typically point out to us.
