.157 BAC? Damn. That's more than a few beers. That's like a case. Or a maybe a little more.

If you're going to drink, don't drive. More than 4 beers and you need to stay put or let someone drive you.

The thing I find the saddest about this whole situation is that it's apparent his teammates and those around him had indications of his drinking problem and that he needed help, yet no one stepped in and interceeded. I think it's always hard when things like this happen and we are left saying, "yes, we saw the signs but didn't think it was my place to help..."

The police chief says Hancock's blood-alcohol level was nearly twice Missouri's legal limit. Marijuana was also found in the rented Ford Explorer. Hancock was also talking on his cell phone at around the time of the crash. The conversation with a female acquaintance ended abruptly -- apparently when the crash occurred.
Nice. Loser. Thank god this guy didn't pull a Leonard Little and kill somebody else. Usually the idiot walks away and a family of 4 end up dead.

Worst part about Little is he's been arrested since then on drunk driving charges and yet he stays out of jail... he freaking killed a lady while drunk, and then he gets arrested again for drunk driving??? Sometimes I hate the liberties pro athletes get.

Sounds like something right out of Saw III, which exploited my two worst fears in life: 1) My children dying before me, and 2) somebody very close to me (especially a direct family member) being killed by a drunk driver.

Personally, I don't drink, I don't endorse drinking, and I think that drinking is irresponsible enough as it is, regardless of what anybody else thinks. But I've had friends that drink religiously, and I do what I can to put my word in to just ask them to lighten up. Like I said, drinking irresponsibly can lead to you thinking what's okay and what's not okay. I have a peanut allergy, and I could easily go ahead and try something while intoxicated that could kill me because I wasn't being careful about my allergy. To say that his teammates did nothing about his drinking problem isn't exactly the easiest thing to do. Like I said, my friends have what I consider drinking problems, especially because they're under age. It's sad to see that the kids I played in the sandbox with are now doing some of the things that they do.

Just because the rumors were true, doesn't mean they weren't rumors. Rumors are not based in fact and can then be proven true or false or they can remain unconfirmed. But, I see how happy you are to have your rumors end up being true and I'm sure you'll benefit greatly.

Yes, Little was arrested a second time for drunk driving, only there was one problem.......he wasn't drunk and all charges were dropped. So, it's kinda hard to slam a guy just because an overzealous cop sees an athlete who he knows has a past and arrests him based on assumptions and not actual evidence.

There is no link but the local Fox affiliate here had an exclusive video taken from security footage, from a nearby building, that looked onto I-64/Hwy 40. You could clearly see other cars avoiding the tow truck and then you see Hancock's SUV ram the back and the headlights from the SUV go dark. Very eerie to have seen that.

But not hard to slam him at all since he killed someone.

I felt bad at first and still am horrifired that someone had to die, but I've felt the affects of other's decision for drunk-driving with my own school. I've covered the family's reaction for the newspaper and the student's reactions as well. The hardest thing I've ever done in three years of journalism. Sorry Hancock made a bad decision, but can't pity anyone who died while putting any number of other life's in harm's way.

Solid rationale. The quote I was referring to was directly making a point to the fact that since the first arrest, he had been arrested AGAIN.

Here. Let's read the actual quote I was referring to again: "Worst part about Little is he's been arrested since then on drunk driving charges and yet he stays out of jail... he freaking killed a lady while drunk, and then he gets arrested again for drunk driving??? Sometimes I hate the liberties pro athletes get."

                        THE WORST PART.

This quote, while misinformed, is taking someone to task for something they didn't do. Since the details of the actual case are never as intriguing as the thought of someone screwing up again, and it never gets the national coverage on ESPN and other outlets than the first report recieved, I can understand why someone wouldn't know the true story.

And of course I don't condone the accident he had earlier that resulted in the death of a woman. Tragic and reprehensible. Yet, he served the sentence handed down to him by a court of law, so to fall back on "he killed someone" is so weak a response, it's laughable.

Wait a minute here. First, do you know why the charges were dropped?

Cop stops a guy who smells of alchohol. The guy REFUSES to take the breathalyzer, refuses to take a field sobrieity test, refuses to give blood (and the department doesn't have a forced blood policy), the cop, based on the evidence in front of him BETTER arrest him.

Now there's a chance that the guy was not "legally" drunk, a .08, but that doesn't mean he gets to walk away. If a cop believes the guy was still "under the influence", he can arrest him.

I think you're beef (charges dropped), might be better pointed at the lawyers and judges, not the cop.

Ok I stand by everything I said in my original post, still somewhat angry about the whole thing.

First the nerve that anyone has to drive drunk and endanger everyone else.

Second that he was in a drunk driving accident 2 nights before, and thought nothing of it apparently

some of you need to stop being babies. Those "rumors" that were being mentioned in this thread (that turned out true) were being reported by the MEDIA....not us. so how the hell do some of you get mad at posters who are "spreading rumors." Get mad at the Philadelphia Inquirer or something. geez

                            that makes no sense
