Albert Pujols - 3 ball walk?

Anybody watching the Cardinals/Brewers game right now? Is it just me, or was Pujols' most recent at-bat only 3 balls, and not 4? I'm not in the room anymore (left after his at-bat), so I'm not sure if they changed it somehow or not.

Sorry, it's just been bugging me for the last few minutes.

I didn't watch the game but if it didn't get mentioned later on in the broadcast I doubt it happened, someone would have caught that. Unless perhaps he was hit by a pitch on the third ball.

even if it was true, umps make mistakes too... I'm sure someone would have caught it if it was indeed a 3 pitch walk... most opposing teams don't take kindly to 3 pitch walks.

Hmm... perhaps it was just me, then.

But I recall the at-bat, pitch-by-pitch. Unless I missed a first pitch, which I didn't, he began by getting down 0 - 2, and then he took a low curveball for a ball, another something that missed for a ball, a curveball that he turned on foul, and then a low and outside pitch for ball three... somehow, he took it down, and nobody said anything. It just bothered me that I saw that, and I would like to find proof that he really only did have three balls on him.

I bet that would help get the walk totals up in video baseball games.

And it wasn't just you - a few folks on another forum I post to noticed it too.

I went back and watched it on MLB.tv and you're right. I think ESPN's cameras missed one of the pitches and to go along with them not putting the correct count on the scoreboard. I guess it's possible it was a three pitch walk but it's not likely.

                    Really? Hmm...

Knight, it was in the sixth inning. I checked MLB.com's Gameday, but they claim that the third and fourth ball were in the same location.

This is the post I was talking about, from the forum's gameday thread -

Nope. It actually happened. They showed the replay of the AB a couple innings later.

How on earth did NOBODY know the count on the Brewers or the umpires for that matter?

Didnt they do a replay of the at bat counting out the pitches later on in the game? I turned to the game and all of a sudden they were showing pujols previous at bat and how he walked on 3 balls?

See, I don't know if they did. I was watching the game, and was to take my leave to the study rooms downstairs when Pujols came up to bat, so I decided to watch him. After he walked, I was confused for a second because I thought that it was only three balls. Then I posted when I brought my laptop downstairs and wondered if anyone else saw that.

They just showed the whole thing on Sportscenter. Whether Pujols knew it was ball 3 or not, he just jogged right down to first as though it was ball 4. And nobody stopped him.

Missed it. So was it really a three ball walk?
