If ESPN's making a big enough deal out of a walk to put it in the highlights (and show every pitch in the at-bat), I'm sure it was.

Whoever had MLB.TV, watch the bottom of the 6th (the half inning after this happened). Apparently that's when the announcers catch on.

Its safe to say that it was. I was channel surfing, and when I came across the game they were showing a replay and talking about it, but I wasnt paying close attention.

Well, I remember when leaving, Sutcliffe only said, "And remember, Pujols had an 0 - 2 count when starting this at-bat," so perhaps they were merely showing how Pujols is just the next best thing that he can go from 0 - 2 to a walk. Then again, perhaps it was because he is just so great that he can walk with only three balls on him.

I'm just glad to see that I'm not the only person that saw this. I was about to go crazy thinking that I couldn't count!

Nope. It actually happened. They showed the replay of the AB a couple innings later.

How on earth did NOBODY know the count on the Brewers or the umpires for that matter?
**** happens. I worked scoreboard and stuff for college baseball to make money during my internship, and had it happen once. It was a 4 strike AB. No one noticed, not me, not the stat guys, not the umps, or any of the players.

wow... well things like that do happen I suppose. Shame on the Brewers for not picking up on it.

According to that SI article, Suppan did....and let it go.

I would have definitely thought that Suppan would've at least looked up at the scoreboard. I thought the same thing but often times get distracted during the count and thought I was just day dreaming.

Re: Albert Pujols - 3 ball walk?

Is this really that big of a deal? The ump messed up, not a single player on the Brewers were awake enough to catch it. End of story.

This is like having a thread for a holding penalty.

I wasn't arguing what's right or wrong, I was wondering if what I saw was correct.

Hmmm...let's see...holding penalties happen thousands of times during the season....every season..

3 Ball walks happen once every 50 years after thousands and thousands of GAMES....

                        Yeah...sounds like the same thing.

Not right or wrong. Just interesting.
