You're making a lot of assumptions and a lot of those assumptions really don't make much sense. To claim that Clemens is ruining the game of baseball is absurd. If the steroid allegations haven't ruined the game, then these clauses that teams are giving to Clemens certainly won't. Yes, I'm looking at the big picture as well.
Like most of us had mentioned, it's the teams fault for agreeing to the clauses for which a player asks. You do realize that every player has many clauses in their contracts that teams agree to? Your argument that another team would still sign Clemens is meaningless. That STILL means that another team had to agree to the clauses and still puts that team at fault for agreeing to them. Therefore, it's the teams/owners who are at fault for agreeing to the clauses, not Clemens for asking for them.
Truthfully, it sounds like you just don't like Clemens and want to bash him regardless if it makes sense to do so or not. I don't like the guy either, but I recognize that a team, any team that gives into his clauses is at fault. Like another poster stated, don't hate the player, hate the game. That's exactly right and many of us have tried to show through examples why that's the case.
He did the same thing last year and the year before and I don't know of any other players that were requesting or received the same type of clauses the past 2 offseasons. So why would you believe that it would happen this offseason? This isn't something new.
