    Teixeira to be dealt?

ESPNinsider Buster Olney is reporting that the Rangers will likely deal Texiera as his relationship with manager Ron Washington has soured.

    http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog...e=olney_buster

with all that, and the fact that the Rangers are one of the worst ball clubs in the majors this year a deal certainly seems likely. Where do you guys think he goes and what kind of value do you think the Rangers can get from him?

*I could imagine the Yankees would be interested since there are rumors that the Angels could be interested in Giambi... the problem is the Yanks don't have many players to offer the Rangers that they would be interested in. The assets I could see the Rangers persuing may include Melky Cabrera, Phil Hughes, or maybe Bobby Abreu.
    -why it won't work-
Cabrera doesn't hold enough value by himself, the Rangers would likely have to offer up something else for Hughes and he still would likely be untouchable and then there's Abreu. Do they take his contract on with the idea of still adding Tori Hunter next offseason to solidify their outfield? I can't imagine that's the case.
    -why it might-
Each day the Yanks fall further behind the Sox the more likely they'll do something drastic.

That's really the only team I could imagine at this point with a team like the Indians or Tigers sneaking in their since they're both contenders and both have some pitching the Rangers would be interested in. I don't watch enough NL teams to know who might be interested though his glove would bring some value.

Yankees will probably make a run at him.

I was hoping they'd let him hit free agency though.

Yeah with Giambi now out I think the Yankees will go after him hard. Even though I think the Dodgers will land him because they have the better prospects. If they're willing to part with them. The yankees have some real good prospects as well, but they don't have as many that are major league ready.

The Tigers WONT be interested. Here's why

          1. the asking price would be too high......The Rangers would want either Andrew Miller, or Cameron Maybin. Neither of whome are going anywhere, with the exception of Miller maybe joining the Tigers soon.

          2. The Tigers lead the majors in runs scored. Hitting isnt their problem. Pitching is, specifically the bullpen. If the Tigers are going to make a deal at this point, it will likely be for help in the bullpen.

So what kinda prospects you got in mind? The Rangers really have to be focusing on pitching I think, but a center fielder is also a priority if they don't wanna pay Hunter in the offseason. I was looking at the Braves as a possible destination or maybe the Diamondbacks. Whatcha think?

              How's his defense?

Because if it is anywhere passable I'd like to see him in the land of Cleves.

Too bad our owner doesnt like to spend money.

The Braves are probably out for a couple of reasons: 1) Scott Thorman has done a pretty good job at 1B and Jarrod Saltalamacchia is starting to learn the position. And...
                  2) John Schuerholz really does not like dealing with Scott Boras.

The Diamondbacks probably would not spend the money it would take to sign Teixeira. The DBacks are pretty set at 1B with Connor Jackson and with they Mark Reynolds is hitting for them Chad Tracy may see some time at 1B when he comes off the DL as well.

In a trade scenerio i'm not sure the Yankees have the prospects to give up in a deal. The Rangers are going to want pitching in return and that is something the Yankees do not have enough of for themselves, let alone to trade to someone else.

The Giants could be a possibilty. They have players to deal and have gotten zero production out of 1B (Rich Aurilia and Ryan Klesko have combined for less HR's and RBI's than Bengie Molina).

I think a deal with the Dodgers would have to involve a guy like Billingsley or John Broxton. Then throw in a guy like a Matt Kemp and maybe a young mid level prospect would be more than enough to get Texiera. The Dodgers have arguably the best minor league system in the majors. They definitely have the kind of players the Rangers are looking for. The thing is will they be willing to part with them, for a guy that might only be there for a half a year.

Say we do trade for Texiera. Where do we then put Garciaparra?

If I was guessing, I would say third. LA really needs a power guy in the middle of that order and Texeira is the perfect fit. If the Dodgers land Tex, I think they will win the pennant this year.
