101 in the 9th? That's just freaking sick...

In HS we were supposed to face him... the game got rained out, and the make up game, we faced another pitcher on his team... Would have been amazing to face someone who threw a no-no in the bigs.

WOW. 102 mph on the first pitch to Hardy in the ninth. NASTY. What a feeling that must have been to be dealing like that.

Actually, first No-No in Detroit since '73 when Nolan Ryan was with the Angels. You are correct that the last Tigers No-Hitter was by Jack Morris against the White Sox.

Congrats go out to Verlander who's probably my favourite out of all the Tigers starting pitchers.

Actually, its the first Tigers no hitter in Detroit since 1952, when Virgil Trucks did it

The Morris No hitter in '84 was in Chicago

              Congrats Justin....

p.s. He is on my fantasy team.

Does anyone know if two guys from the same division have thrown a no-no in the same year?

I'm sure it's happened other times than this instance, but Mark Langston and Mike Witt of the Angels (2 pitchers, same game), Randy Johnson of the Mariners, Nolan Ryan of the Rangers, and Dave Stewart of the Athletics all had no hitters in little more than a 3 month stretch in 1990.

Justin always works fast. That's one of my favorite things about watching him. The Brewers were really trying to step out on him in the last two innings to shake him. He's the fastest worker I've seen in a long time.

The movement on his curveball was ridiculous. Even the 102 MPH fastball he threw in the 9th inning had some very nice tailing action on it. It reminded me a lot of Kerry Wood's 20 K game where it looked like he was throwing wiffle balls out there.
