Game Over: Bradley designated for assignment

Today, the A's designated OF Milton Bradley for assignment.

Can't say I'm surprised. This guy is one of the biggest jerks in the game, though I'm sure yet another team will take a gamble on him.

I fully expected this. I know it can't be helped, but I'm so tired of the A's on April 1st looking drastically different than the A's of the summer. So many injuries. So many knuckleheads. At least they won a damn postseason series last year...

it's weird... Milton was having a good year... when he was able to play.

      Here's the word from Rotoworld.com
      <table class="s_playerNewsTable" id="Table1" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100&#37;"><tbody><tr><td>
      </td> <td class="s_playerNewsLeftBorder"></td> <td class="s_playerNewsText"> Athletics designated outfielder Milton Bradley for assignment.
Bradley had to have done something to really upset management and/or his teammates. Sure, the club was at least a little frustrated about his frequent injuries, but he was playing pretty well when he was able to take the field, batting .292/.373/.446 in 65 at-bats. Maybe the A's will be able to trade him for some relief help, though he'll have little value left now that the team has to move him. The Padres, Cardinals, Marlins, White Sox, Astros, Rangers, Braves, Yankees, Orioles and Mets are some of the possible contenders that could use him, and since he's making just $4 million and is a free agent at season's end, it wouldn't be a huge risk to bring him in.

I definitely wouldn't mind the O's taking a chance on him, but that would mean getting rid of precious Jay Gibbons, and Mike Flanagan just can't have that happen.

Sabermetric GM's like Billy Beane like this guy because his percentages look good, but you've got to look at his overall numbers. Career high in runs: 72, homers: 19, and RBI: 67. Most telling of all-only once in his career has he played more than 101 games. His attitude and his fragile body make him not worth the risk.

Eh... when he wasn't on the DL.... Not to sad that he is gone.
In the paper this morning, they said he blew up after a meeting with Billy Bean about not being activated earlier. JERK!

The Twins could *really* use Bradley's bat.

I'm sure he would be an everyday player on that Astroturf.

                            Technically it's not Astroturf.

Anyway, here's what the Twins horrendous collection of DH's have managed to compile this year...

.249 avg - 4th worst in the AL
                            .330 obp - 4th worst
                            .348 slg - Worst
                            .677 ops - 3rd worst
                            2 home runs - Worst
                            28 rbi - 4th worst

If Bradley were to sign with the Twins he would likely be the DH which would be easier on him physically.
At this point Bradley either has to be a DH or a backup OF. His starting days are probably behind him since he can't even stay on the field for 100 games.
