Second, in the papers here in NY, theres a couple of articles about King George firing the Personal Trainer and BP Pitcher for Giambi.
Here you go:
Report: Giambi's coach shut out
When a baseball team's payroll approaches $165 million, someone's bound to get pinched.
In the Yankees' case, that someone is Jason Giambi's personal strength and conditioning coach.
George Steinbrenner's latest move, reported by the New York Post, eliminates Bobby Alejo from the Yankees' traveling party and denies him access to the clubhouse and Yankee Stadium facilities.
Alejo, who was added to the Yankees' staff as a batting practice pitcher last year but wasn't paid by the club, won't be allowed to travel on the team plane, work with Giambi at the ballparks and will have to pick up his expenses on the road if he travels with Giambi, the Post reported. Giambi paid him a salary last year.
A source told the newspaper Giambi phoned Steinbrenner recently to ask The Boss to keep things the way they were last year, but Steinbrenner denied the request.
Steinbrenner doesn't seem to want to leave his team alone. Altering Giambi's program follows Steinbrenner questioning Derek Jeter's focus and nudging Joe Torre's coaches to work harder.
"I haven't heard a word about anything," Alejo said. "All I know is that (Giambi) is picking me up Friday and we are flying from California to Tampa. Other than that, this is new to me. I don't know anything about it."
GM Brian Cashman refused comment to the Post on Alejo's elimination.
Steinbrenner is already an idiot, i think we all know that, but first the Jeter thing, and now this. Is he MAD??? I guess he likes pissing off his best players, which he spent close to $200 mil total for. Next thing, hes going to pop off at Torre learning Spanish and Japanese, so he can talk to his new int'l players.
When will the madness end????????????????????????
