I actually agree with oakfan to a point. I think there is a place in the HR Derby for a guy like Adam Dunn, and I'm not saying that to be a homer. He shouldn't be on the all-star team but I think he should be in the competition. There are some other guys, like Wily Mo Pena, that should be in it too. Why not? Get Toe Nash out of jail too!!!

I agree, but then they should convert it to all younger players. Give them lots of exposure, show them on national TV to audiences that wouldn't normally see them. Its just my opinion, but I would rather see that then a smattering of older stars and guys that are reluctant to be there.

To get the full effect of this derby, they need to have more left hand hitters. I don't know there is something about the ball going in the water. I was hoping Ortiz would hit.

How about guys from the futures game against the MLBers? Just a thought. Not sure how well that would work. The youngin's would probably get destroyed.

Lol. What about players from the college WS against MLBers, but the college kids get the metal bats. Who wouldn't want to watch an aluminum bat HR derby?

Jack Cust should have been invited to this thing... I'm sure he'd do it, and I wouldn't doubt he could put on a good performance.

I wish Ichiro would do this. Believe it or not, I would put money on him to win it.

I would like to see Rafael Billiard in a Homerun Derby. He would put them all to shame.

Only if it's against Felix Fermin.

I was thinking the same thing today. Everyone always says that Ichiro launches balls into the seats during BP, but he doesn't take as powerful cuts during the actual game.

Wade Boggs was supposedly the same way. During BP he could hit them out of Fenway with the best of them, he just hit more for contact during games.

I agree w. the train of thought that the HR Derby is too long. Just have 8 contestants each go once and the top two advance to the finals.

I honestly can't blame any player who doesn't want to participate in it the way it's currently set up.

I'm glad Cabrera isn't doing it. He needed the time off anyway.
