Although it's hard to watch Salty and Andrus go, I can't wait to see Tex in a Braves uniform!

It was reported today in Dallas that Teixeira was offered a $140 million extension to stay in Texas, and he turned it down.

      Scott Boras is the antichrist.

Good luck signing him long-term Atlanta. He's destined for the Yankees or Red Sox.

I actually heard it was a $160 million dollar extension(on one of the sports shows on either Sirius or XM....I'm not sure which I was listening to)..
To me..that spells that either Tex is gone after the contract is up...or the Braves have no desire to re-sign A. Jones. I personally think they are better off with Tex, so if they can re-sign him...good move otherwise this trade is gonna smell like a dead fish when he's playing in the Bronx in '09.

Or maybe, just maybe, Tex didn't wanna stay with the Rangers?

I honestly think the Braves may have a decent shot at re-signing Teixeira. He went to Georgia Tech, his wife is from Georgia, and one of his teammates made the comment that Teixeira always wanted to play in Atlanta. I know with Boras being his agent it will complicate things but with Andruw almost certainly leaving and Hampton's contract expiring a big chunk of money will free up.

              Yeah...but you're forgetting the Y factor.....
They need a 1B desperately.....There aren't too many better than Tex right now....and with the DH...he still get half a day off when he gets spelled at first by DHing.
Add that into the TRUCKLOAD of money the Skanks got...and you got some fight on your hands.
Then add my Mets into the mix(Delgado will be gone and we don't really have anyone down in the minors getting a good look at 1B) and the Red Sox and the Braves are gonna have to go DEEP to re-sign him.
Hey, you got him now and that's good for you guys.

Couldn't blame the guy really. Rangers have always sucked. Scott Boris is his Agent, so it's going to be very clear what the Braves will have to do to re-sign him. Pay him $20+ million a year for around 7 years and he's yours.

That's what the Rangers offered him, and he didn't take it. His wife was supposedly pretty broken up about leaving, because they had become quite integrated in the area they lived.h

It's thought Boras wants something at $25 million per year for 8-10 years. He basically wants an A-Rod deal for him.

Another thing that should concern Braves fans. Teixiera is a career .264 hitter away from The Ballpark in Arlington. In exactly the same number of at-bats home versus away (what are the odds of that, btw?), Tex hit 15 less homers and more than 80 fewer RBI.

Hicks offered to make him the 4th highest paid player in the league, and he turned it down. He isn't close to be the 4th best player in the league either.

Small sample size. Last year he was clearly better on the road than at home.

Look at his career splits, there really isn't a significant difference between home and away.

Tex played college at Ga Tech. He and his wife wanted to move back to Atl after his career was over. His wife is from here too.
