Most overrated/underrated player in the Majors.

This is no longer an overrated/underrated thread. It's become more of which players do you like and which players do you hate. You can't say guys like Alomar, Vaughn, and Johnson are overrated. Washed up maybe, but not overrated, because they were once pretty good. Just because they piss you off now because they aren't what they used to be doesn't turn them into overrated players.

Look at the stats. Koskie is not underrated. He's really just an average player. So are Olerud, Bell, Nixon, Kotsay, and most of the other guys mentioned. Now guys like Giles, Beltran, and Buehrle who actually put up numbers but don't get much recognition, that's underrated.

J.D Drew over-rate no try under-rated. the guy even when hurt (most of the time) is a 20 homer a year guy not over-rated!

How is Ichiro Overrated, undeserving of that MVP, Yes, but not overrated.

Mike Sweeney, Brian Giles, Carlos Beltran are very underrated.

Tim Salmon, Garret Anderson, Darren Erstad, Underrated.

I cant list any overrated players, because there are simply to many.

How is Ichiro Overrated, undeserving of that MVP, Yes, but not overrated.

Mike Sweeney, Brian Giles, Carlos Beltran are very underrated.

Tim Salmon, Garret Anderson, Darren Erstad, Underrated.

I cant list any overrated players, because there are simply to many.

Ichiro is overrated because everyone was swinging from his nuts since the first day he was in training camp back in 2001. He had a really good first season, but imo got the MVP award because of his popularity. I won't even get started on what I think about him winning rookie of the year.

The guy is a really good player, but waaaaayyyy too much has been made of him so far. In another 3 years, if he is still producing like he did in 2001, then I will say he is deserving of all the hype.

JD Drew is overrated in my book because he has not come close to living up to the hype he generated before he debuted with the Cards. Every baseball person had him pegged as the next big thing, and he has been far from it. Yes, he has had a lot of injury problems, but even when he has stayed healthy, he has put up nowhere near the numbers that were expected of him. 20 home runs is nothing in today's game. Scott Hatteberg hit 20, or really close to it last year and nary a word is ever mentioned of him. For all the hype, Drew simply has not produced.

I dont know how you guys can say that Bret Boone is overrated. Unless you think that 36HRs, .330+ BA, and 140+RBI's is not playing up to potential. Yeah he didn't do as well last year, but nobody thought he would. This in no way takes away from his accomplishments in 2001, (by the way which is better than any single season that Derek Jeter has ever had.) Ichiro, yeah maybe hyped up alot, but I don't think that owning the AL record HR's and RBI's for a second baseman makes one overrated.

Kotsay's defense is what makes him good, plus last year he had a .290 average or so, but like I said, he has one of the best arms in the league.

(Olerud) If .300ba, 20hrs, 100rbi's and gold glove defense at 1st every year is just "average" than don't you think there'd be alot more players with those stats every year? I think that this just proves that these guys are underrated when people are saying they are just average, yet have no idea how "average"

(Olerud) If .300ba, 20hrs, 100rbi's and gold glove defense at 1st every year is just "average" than don't you think there'd be alot more players with those stats every year? I think that this just proves that these guys are underrated when people are saying they are just average, yet have no idea how "average"
