Well Johnny, what can I say? We were all hoping for the best my man. I'm as diappointed as anyone else. My apologies if I offended you. Peace.

A piece of software is so comlex that it's just impossible to catch every single bug - especially in an isolated environment like a development house - even after a thorough going over of the gold product. It's the bizarre, rare, esoteric bugs that should slip into production, not bugs as big and obvious as this.

Looks like there are a number of people that still haven't had it happen, so it's not impossible that it didn't happen for the testers. When you have thousands of people playing the game, you're more likely to have multiple people that find the same bug (especially if they are watching for it).

WSB also dumps old years of career stats if they are taking up too much memory, though it always keeps the career totals for all years. The Xbox version keeps more years than the PS2 (and may not dump any at all....not sure).

Re: High Heat Sightings and First Impressions here...

It's not an excuse but it's actually pretty easy for bugs to slip in late. It could happen in a million ways that are to tedious and numerous to go over. It's also not always the fault of the testers. Sometimes these bugs are introduced so late it's hard to have coverage over an entire game. It's not like it was that way the entire test cycle. Now on the more cynical side I'm pretty sure 3DO at some very late date knew aout about the bug but decided to hit their release date instead of lose sales. It's a tough call. If they ship too late you lose so many sales you danger the franchise. A fix that has to re-pass Sony or Microsoft could literally delay a game for weeks. Hopefully they have a disc exchange program already in the works for just this contingency. I agree with FatPitcher in that if this happened to EA with it's massive dev and QA teams it would make me happy. They do deserve it. I feel sorry, however, for a small dev team like 3do has.

Yeah, I don't know thing #1 about programming and testing, but how a bug that occurs of such importence and apparently has reared it's head several times was not caught shocks me. Maybe somebody can help me, do the developers, testers, etc. not PLAY the final game a day or two before shipping it?

Btw, I don't have HH 2004, but owned 2003 and 2002 and thought both were quality. I hate to see this happen to them as much as anybody, especially in THIS year's crop of choices for baseball.

I'm all for admitting mistakes. If 3dO said, hey johnnyg we made a mistake -- send us your disc and we''ll fix it for free. I'd do it. But the odds are we have to wait until 2004 (if 3Do exists then) and we'll have to pony up another $50.

I dio apologize for sounding like a brat -- but I had such high f'n hopes. Please WSB don't let us down!

I seriously doubt 3DO will let this go unfixed. They can't afford to lose the PS2 market (whereas they could afford to give the much smaller PC crowd the cold shoulder).
