    Reaction to 3D0 Developers Interview

    NOTE TO 3DO DEVELOPMENT STAFF:

READ THE PRESS RELEASE BEFORE FIELDING NEW PRODUCT QUESTIONS!!!

Look guys, I'm on this board and I read that review because I want my pre-ordered HH2004 to be as good as you guys. I hope it's awesome. I don't know yet.

What I do know is its not what I thought it would be. Why? Am I misguided, uninformed?

Nah, I just got the "now that you've paid for it", details from the interview posted above.

Check out the features listed on the preview on this and other sites, and then check out the " we hope to in a future version" BS answers to the very questions regarding those features from the geeks at 3DO.

    Case and Point:

    AD:

Player Customization. Use the Player Editor and Create A Player functionality to make every player look and play exactly how you want!

    Q&A:
Will we be able to edit players accessories and attributes, if so what is available to us?

(TO MAKE THEM PLAY AND LOOK EXACTLY HOW WE WANT??)

Tony: Some yes, and we’re definitely going to consider adding a lot of new player editor features. The Create-A-Player mode will be similar to that of High Heat 2003 PS2. There will be a few more variables, but it won’t be as far reaching as that of our previous PC versions. However, further improvements, will be likely be made for future versions.

    THAN DON'T ADVERTISE YOU CAN!!!

And check out this dandy of an answer:

    Q
How about a list of names that the computer announcers will recognize if used on a created or edited player?

Mike: I don’t have easy-access to that list. Try it and find out for yourself.

ATTA BOY. MAKE US "FIND OUT". YOU GET PAID TO DO A JOB. JUST SAY NO, WE KNOW THATS THE ANSWER. DON'T DO THE Q&A WITH BS ANSWERS LIKE THAT.

YOU ARE THE DAMN SENIOR DIRECTOR FOR GOD'S SAKE OF COURSE YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THAT!!!

And ther'e more, but I'm sick of typing and I'm sure you are sick of reading.

Those are big areas for me. I'm an editor mad-man. Gotta have rosters current and accurate visually and content-wise.
I don't mind doing the work myself like in LIVE 2003. How many of us took time re-edit appearance / attributes for accuracy? Lots. These are reasons why I got the game.

    Pissed off.

Relax man, I mean you cant expect them to konw every little detail, they werent the programmers (Im pretty sure) Thats like asking MJ how many times he scored 40+ points, he's not going to know every time. These guys were gracious enough to do an interview, so dont bash them, I'd like to hear from the horse's mouth next yr. Thank you.

The guy has a good point.
" I look at him and it's getting to the point where it's just scaring me. He looks younger but he doesn't carry himself in a younger manner. He's impressive, and I'm glad we drafted him. "

                Oy.

We already knew that player specific add ons, like elbow pads and such, weren't in the game. So by "look", they mean height, weight, race, jersey number, etc. Clam down.

As far as the list, the game can announce every first name and every last name already in there - from all MLBPA players. There's your list, and there's easy access to it on ESPN.

                Enjoy.

I'm a little annoyed about the BS answer about the accuracy of the stadiums. The guy said they didn't have the access to get all the information correct in all the stadiums. Couldn't they get most of the information from pictures and team websites? It wouldn't even take much of their own resources.

Think about Jordan and what he's like. I'd bet MJ does indeed know exactly how many times he put up 40, and you can bet if he was getting paid to know it and QAing about it he'd know.

I'm just tired of false advertising in these games. Again, its not that he didn't know, he knows it's a NO.

In defense of the "list of names the computer can say", to have him list every name would in fact, be ridiculous, and not really or worth if you ask me. WTF do I care to see a list of all those players? Doesnt do anything for me.
