Re: Put a fork in them....

Phillies get within two. Great series against the Mets.

Then I remember why I started this thread. Three straight losses. Two to the Marlins, one of which they blow the game.

The more you watch the Phillies you'll see this same thing happen again and again.

I wouldn't be surprised if they actually took the wildcard or division lead before the end of the month. But being the Phils then I wouldn't be surprised to see them lose 5 in a row to end the season and end up a game or two.

This weekend was typical Phillies Baseball. Plain & Simple.

Re: Put a fork in them....

I want so bad for them to finally make the playoffs. I fall for it every time.

I honestly think the only other way is for me to forget about baseball all together.

This team makes me not even want to watch the sport. I am not a big enough baseball fan to just watch it for the sake of watching baseball.

I can do it with football and the NCAA Tournament but not baseball.

I am so fed up with this team. It's the same thing ever year. Stay close, but not good enough to really do anything. This year you could blame it on injuries but other teams have problems too.

It's so hard for me to stay optimistic with this team even for the future. I am so tired of them doing this same thing every year.

          Geesh.
This quote didn't seem unreasonable at the time, but wow, does it look off target as of today. I don't think anybody in the world thought the Mets would collapse, but you have to give the Phillies credit for being scorching hot. What an incredible comeback. I'm happy for Phillies fans to have something to cheer for after having so much loss and suffering for the past bit. I'd like to see the Phils make the playoffs.

If the Mets don't make the playoffs not only will we not have either team from last years world series in the playoffs--we won't have any of the teams from last years LCS's either.

And they say there's no parity in baseball. Pssht!

Glad that my Mariners post didn't come back to bite me like this one. I'm really cheering on the Phils. I can't see the Mets making it. They're flushing their season away and Willie Randolph is looking more and more like he's facing certain death with each game the Mets play.

The Mets collapse is the most unprecedented in history as they're the first team in history to have a 7 game lead over the last 17 games and see it slip away. (If I misheard that please correct me) I just hope the Phils don't fall into the trap of "being happy to be there" if they indeed make the postseason.

you are correct with the biggest collapse ever. not sure though if its official though until they lose the division I think they have to lose the division for it to be the biggest collapse in history (w/17 games left)
