That's lower than I expected....it's not like any of the other baseball games have dramatically improved (WSB may have the best shot) and High Heat had the best scores last year, so I think baseball fans may be sorely displeased with the crop of baseball games on any system, unless MVP or Inside Pitch comes out of left field.

If you're getting that from the PS2 thread that has 8.1 in the subject line, i'd take that score with a grain of salt. It's an unconfirmed number, and the review has not been posted yet. They've been making some changes to the site and it may just be a glitch.

With that said, it's highly likely that that is the actual score. I saw a thread where the guy reviewing the game said things like "it's not all it's cracked up to be" and "it needs work". So i wouldn't expect a really high score anyway.

NO, IT is the actual review posted on the boards. The reviewer basically gave it an 8.1 based on the baseball games featues that havent been released or played yet.It was the full review that will go up tonight. Someone has posted the full review over at sportsreviewers boards,

I read the review, and just played the game (very briefly), and some of it I strongly disagree with. My main grip is that if its better than last years, graphic wise, how come it didnt at least get the same score?, which was an 8.8.

Oh, okay, my bad. I haven't been there in a few hours so i missed it. I'll go check it out now. Still, 8.1 is not a "bad" score by any means.

blaise: I agree I dont trust ign anymore. How it could get a lower score from the previous year and improve in graphics and animation plus adding a detailed franchise mode is beyond me.Watch them give MVP a higher score.Unbelievable.

I haven't played it yet but I agree with you based on my reading of the review. His biggest gripe is that HH2004 used the same batter pitcher interface, while other games have newer, more interactive interfaces.

If they had changed the interface from HH2003 I would have been furious. That's what keeps me coming back to the HH series. To me it is the most fun and realistic batter/pitcher interface in any video baseball game ever. Not knowing if the 3-2 pitch you're throwing with a tired pitcher is going to be a strike, taking and giving up walks, and that whole part of the game is what I love about HH and I'm glad that they didn't change it.

What they did apparently change is that there are more foul balls (that was one of my beefs about 2003 is that there weren't enough, and now there's a slider to adjust that too), and there are a lot more pitch types, with more movement on the fastballs.

If they could have improved the graphics even more that would have been nice, but to have some graphical improvements, some minor gameplay improvements, and yet to keep the central game engine intact to me is a positive, not a negative, as the reviewer portrays it.

But that's just my opinion. I'm getting the game today so hopefully my opinion will be the same after playing it.
