I'm not exactly an objective source.

You can find free user and media reviews for last year's game at gamerankings.com, gamefaqs.com, amazon.com, ebgames.com, baseballsimcentral.com, this site (of course), ign.com and a few other places. Probably the best place to start. There are also some previews and related info for this year's game floating around, mostly at ign.com. There's an interview with the Project Manager at this site; it has a lot of info on what's new and improved this year (though again, it's coming from someone who worked on the game, so take the source into consideration).

FatPitcher: Thank you. I find it very cool that someone like you, that is associated with WSB(not sure of exactly who you work for but I know you work for someone that has to do with WSB) and when someone asks you to persuade them to get it, you basically point them in the direction of reviews and previews. I think that is awesome that you can hold out on sounding like a fanboy. It also makes me feel that you are so comfortable with your product that you don't need to try and persuade people...you are letting all the previews and reviews do that. Anyway, I just thought I would tell you that I thought it was cool. You could have easily sat there and typed out every known option to WSB and said how awesome it was, but you admitted being biased and didn't...vey cool.

Now I have a question for you. In another thread I saw you mention a feature that hasn't been mentioned previously, about the pitcher tendencies, but I was wondering are there any other options or features that haven't been mentioned? I am sure there will be nothing groundbreaking, or else it would be advertised, but maybe there are some more cool things that you can maybe shed some light on???

    Thanks a lot,

    John

        Fat,
You told me in a chat a couple of weeks ago that WSB was not a "sim". Do you stand by that? I'm also wavering on HH now that some bugs are found.

Hmmm. The design philosophy was to balance video game fun with realistic baseball. Because your performance is heavily based on your skill at the game, rather than on just player ratings, you'll end up with unrealistic results if you are incredibly good at the game or if you're playing on a difficulty level that is too low or high for you. If you're a bad fielder, your team will be bad fielders too. If you use the power button all the time, a player may hit more home runs than he normally would, and if you use the contact button all the time, you may hit fewer.

Games like High Heat limit the effect of user skill and decisions on the outcome of a play to ensure that results are realistic. In that sense, WSB is not as much of a sim. If you are the best WSB player on the planet, you may be able to hit 100 HRs a year with Craig Biggio, whereas that's really not possible in HH. We've attempted to make enough difficulty options so that everyone can customize the game enough to get good results regardless of their skill; I can't guarantee that you'll find perfect settings, but if you don't, let us know and we'll add more for next year, as we've done every year since 2K2 on the Dreamcast.

Even if WSB 2k3 wouldnt have changed its gameplay at all, I would still be buying it. WSB was the best, but with all the Additions and little fixes, WSB 2k3 is just gonna rock. Hey Fatpitcher, I actually just have one question. Can 2 people be on the same team? If you guys add that in, then I will never look towards another baseball game again.

No, only one player per team still.

Yeh the comparisons will be much more interesting when both have been played.
