Welllll...I don't know if that's completely true. I know that in my mind, I have an asterisk next to the Cardinals' title last year due to their regular season record. I still think they were a bad team that lucked into a title due to their opposition (Mets' injuries, Tigers' choke job), and I don't respect that team at all, regardless of their championship. Whenever I hear a Cardinal fan talking about their title, acting like they were the best team in baseball, I roll my eyes. So, I can see where some people might feel the same way about this Cubs team. It's more satisfying if an acknowledged "great" team goes all the way.

That said, if the Cubs can win the World Series, I'll still take it.

It's been a long and interesting regular season. I am happy to see my Cubbies in the playoffs. I need to be sure to stock up on Rolaids and Alka Seltzer when Pinella decides to bring Dumpster, I mean Dempster into the game.

          Pierzynski is a choad, too.
...and in our league we don't have KC, TampaBay, Texas...The worst teams in the NL are much better than the worst teams in the AL, overall...I think this leads to what are (only slightly) inflated records in the AL for better teams.

I agree, but at the same time, the Cards over the past 3-4 years have been such a consistently good team that it didn't feel so cheap to me...
I also believe that there is more parity in baseball than we often believe, especially in the NL...

This is always my favorite response from Cub fan.

At the very least I know what it's like to have my team in the World Series in my lifetime. Maybe it's better not to go at all rather to go and get beat. With that being said, it's a good thing the Cubs have done you that favor over the past few decades.

I could be assuming things, if that's the case, my bad. Happy 62nd birthday!

That's fine, we'll just remember to keep you off the list for the greatest party in the history of mankind.

                  Re: Cubs clinch central...

Good to see the boys get into the postseason. Hopefully we can get hot again and pull it off. Overall though, a good first season thus far for Lou and the boys. Interested to see who we'll face first, so i'll be paying close attention to the games this weekend.

Thanks to the Brewers and Cardinals for making it interesting the last month of the season, and good luck next year. When the Cubbies were stinkin' up the joint I really thought it was the Brew Crew's year, but I'm glad it wasn't.

I'm assuming we'll see Lilly skip his start this weekend so we can get him going in the first game. I'm pretty confident with him on the mound in any game to be honest.

Not applicable until they manage to go many more decades between their last AFL Championship and a Super Bowl Championship and have a fan interfere in the AFC Championship game.

Congrats Chicago Cubs! It feels pretty good to win the division, I could get used to that.
