A lot of reason for the Yanks/Red Sox rivalry being so big is because the two teams have faced off each other in a few big ALCS. The media has used previous history to make the rivalry seem bigger. I don't remember the rivalry getting as much talk in the late 90's.

If the Dodgers and Giants could finally make the playoffs together (or make the playoffs period) on a consistent basis then their rivalry will also get a lot of talk.
I agree, the Yanks/Sox has been hot of late. But look @ those all time collapses. Twice, Dodgers lost big leads to the Giants. You've got the Marichal/Roseboro incident. It was mentioned the Dodgers beat the Giants in '95. That was payback for '82 when it was SF beating LA to keep them from beating Atlanta. Who gives Barry Bonds the most grief? A couple years back, some fans killed each other over this series. Here's a link w/more (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodgers-Giants_rivalry).
LA & SF do their best to keep the other out if they can't get in. I've always felt Bos/NY is the most overrated rivalry in sports. The Yanks have dominated this series. Only once have they come up on the short end. If it wasn't for that 3-0 comeback, I wouldn't even acknowledge it as a rivalry.

      Oh yea, I agree.

      Dodgers/Giants goes WAY back.

Everything you mentioned is being stashed away in media files right now.

If we ever see a Giants/Dodgers NLCS it's gonna be huge for the media. And the following season it'll be even bigger especially if one of those teams ends up winning the championship.

I don't know when that'll happen but it'll be nice if it does one day.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I'd love it if it ever happened. I'm not a fan of either, so I could just sit back & enjoy it.

the mets... what makes it even worse is receiving an apologetic email from the organization for the collapse.

Easily the Colorado Rockies. Picked to go last in the division and of course they were just really bad this year.

Where? You want pitching, you best develop it in your own farm system. Because no one is trading it & no team wants to let their studs out in FA. There just isn't anyone out there to spend money on.
