Please. Can't compete with the Dbacks and Rockies now. And those young players they have are only going to get better. Pitching? After Young and Peavy, who's going to pitch?

As far as 2009 Rags? How do you figure. The other teams in the West not named the Giants already have a ton of young talent who've already proved themselves Major League ready. Every Padre prospect you mentioned has yet to come close to that.

Much like the Chargers this team is reverting back to it's old form of patheticness.

It was a great block by the catcher...absolutely textbook on how to block the plate. I don't think he got close as well.

Well, by 2009, Antonelli, Headley, Huffman, Inman, and LeBlanc will all be through with their first season in AAA, they've shown promise, but whether they're major league ready will be proven if they can play in the majors with success and not be AAAA players the Padres managed to collect earlier this decade. I'm optimistic about these players, but I know not all of them will succeed. Out of the five, the only two I see sticky may be Antonelli and Inman. Headley needs to show his power and average can hold steady. Huffman I'm not really too high on, other than that he's shown he can hit. LeBlanc scares me with some of the Germano comparisons, but I hope he's better than that guy.

2003 and 2004 hurts. I think we only have one bonafide prospect from those two years, that being Blanks. Blanks however strikes to me another Adam Dunn clone. He can run for a guy his size, has great power that should only get better, but he strikes out way too much. Those two drafts are the reason we don't have any major league ready prospects to swoop in next year, which is why I know the Padres won't do anything except have to hold steady with a bunch of scrubs because they won't get any high-end players.

i believe Antonelli will be our starting 2B next season

ill give Inman 2008 in AAA and be a great contributor in 2009

Headley, i love this kid but im not sure where to play him with Kouz looking like our 3B. One may move, or one may be dealt in the offseason so who knows.

I think Headley can run better than Kouzmanoff. If he's going to be in the Padres plans, he needs to learn LF this offseason and next year in AAA. As for Antonelli, he's in his first full season, no need to rush him unless he pulls off a Khalil Greene in ST and absolutely mashes... I'd prefer him to prove that he can put up the numbers he put up this season next year.

Then why did the ump hesitate to call him safe? Clearly it wasn't because the ball was out....that was evident. I agree, instant replay in such situations in necessary.

Also, I don't think stats from this game should count toward the regular season. It's a pigtail playoff game of sorts, not a regular season game.

I was expecting this exact post, and yes I was laughing as I watched it happen. In fact, I laughed as he came into the game.

Offense bailed him out though. MVP triple from Holliday. Couldn't tell if he touched home or not since I didn't have my contacts in, but it's over.

                    Hurray Rockies.

I know it's moot at this point, but I'm with you guys. No chance he could've touched the plate.

What a great game. What a great season. What a great sport.

Great season Padre fans, you've some seriously impressive pitching, and while I'm not totally sure about your future, I'm of the impression that they will only get better next year.

Rockies fans... well I bet Philly is just about crapping their pants to play you right now.

I don't think he ever touched the plate either. The delay by the ump in making the call was kind of odd but that might just be his style. He was never in any hurry to raise his hand on called strikes either.

                                Classic game, though.
