How does the "guess pitch" work?

Do u have to press like a button before hand or does the cpu automatically guess?

you hold down L2 and press the button that corresponds to the pitch you think the cpu will throw.

I use it on every pitch, makes the game much more fun IMO. It also makes you wait for your pitch and be patient, which in turn helps draw walks.

I guess i dont understand what "guess pitch" is. Is there another type of pitching/hitting that i dont know about?

I'm just asking these questions because i dont understand, but i'd like to find out. If someone would explain it, it would be much obliged
