It sucks to see him go but he's about to get seriously overpaid by someone.

After having a season like that and still wanting a raise?

Schuerholtz made the right decision by letting him walk. I see a team like San Fransisco making a run at him.

He killed his chances batting .220. Just a ridiculous number in a contract year.

He was just terrible this season, but I'll miss seeing him as a Brave. I just don't see why anyone would give him a huge, multiyear contract right now after this past season, though I'm sure it will happen.

              Good ****ing riddance.

I'm thankful for what he's done but his predictable nature and lack of hustle offensively pisses me off to no end.

Wish him well, but I feel this is in the best interest of the organization.

That's the part that got me the most. He wants a $6 million/year raise to $20 million/year after hitting .222 with 26 HR's. Give me a break.

We better sign Tex long term this winter now.

I'm sad to see him go, but honestly you can't pay him big money. I read an article in the AJC yesterday and consider these #'s:

                      - Since the first 3 weeks of the 2006 season, AJ's average is .236. That's 11 months of baseball and a .236 average.

                      - AJ has played in over 1800 games in 11 seasons...that is insane! He is average 164 games a year over his career. His body is more like a guy who has played 15-17 years at this point.

Bottom line, I love the guy and think he is the greatest defensive CF of our time, but the Braves can't pay this guy big money. No one really should, but someone will.

I remember when Andruw was just a kid and he broke out into the national scene against the Yankees in the '96 World Series. He's been a great player but he has regressed the last couple years and looks to me like he's not physically fit as he should be.

I hope no one gives him the ridiculous contract he wants but you know it'll happen. If it were me, i'd give him an incentive laden contract.

This move all but assures that Tex will be signed long term with the Braves.

I remember that World Series. That was basically both his and Jeter's introduction to the world if memory serves me correctly. I like other Braves fans are sad to see him go because he's been such a staple of this team for over a decade, but it's time. Now they need to lock up Tex and I'm sure they'll find a comparable replacement to Jones on that giant major league team the Braves call their farm system

If I'm Atlanta I don't lose sleep over this.

It's not like he ever led them to a championship or anything.

Yes, he played great centerfield but I'm sure that what he did defensively did not actually save many more runs than an above-average centerfielder that could hit and get on-base at a better rate.

                            It's not a huge loss.

Andruw was my favorite player because of his defense. But he's not the same player anymore. His range has diminished. & the BA speaks for itself.
