Johan Santana may waive no-trade clause

Johan Santana indicated that he might be willing to waive his no-trade rights if the Twins decide to shop him.

"Everything about the Twins, I love," Santana said. "At the same time, if I have to go somewhere else, and it's for the better, I'll do it. I won't have any problems with that." Santana isn't likely to earn the top-three Cy Young finish he needed to retain his full no-trade protection next year. Still, he can block trades to 12 teams and put mostly contenders on that list. There hasn't been any indication that tht Twins will revisit talks with Santana anytime soon. A last-ditch effort to keep Torii Hunter is the first priority.
If they do indeed trade him. Please, trade him to the NL!

Omar Minaya and Willie Randolph would drive all the way to Minny, pack his stuff for him, and give him whatever he wants to pitch in Flushing.

The Mets don't have the pitching prospects to get Santana.

If it ever got close, the Mets would throw everything they got to block him from going to ATL. Braves don't have a lot to offer. They traded their top prospects to bring in Teixeira. I guess we can package a bunch of prospects to try to get him, obviously would have to be highlighted by Escobar.

The Braves still have prospects even after the Tex trade and need another SP, do they have enough to get Santana? Hmmm that's tough to say...I don't think so to be honest but J.S. always seems to pull off something stunning and unexpected so I wouldn't put it past him. I mean, look how he robbed Hudson from the A's.

Would be a dream obviously though.

We definitely still have prospects. I think Twins would be interested in Escobar and Jones, but they would also want more. Are the Braves wanting to trade all of that? I'd be all for it. I love Escobar, he is a great hitter, but as an offense we are loaded right now. Getting Santana, are you kidding, that would give us 3 great pitchers.

Again, it isn't happening so don't want to go crazy over it, but it is a no brainer that JS if given a shot, should go for it.

Whoever tries to trade for Santana better try to set up a contract extension with him also. He's a great pitcher, but I wouldn't trade away the farm system for him since he hits free agency next year.

Yankees have the players to get him but I doubt they'd give them up.

Hopefully he gets to free agency.

I'm telling ya, the only way to throw a bone to the NY fans for the debacle is to present them with a major change. If AROD opts out, sign him then offer Reyes for Santana. If ARod doesn't opt out then forget it.

We're not saving any money by not re-signing Andruw, because that money will go to an extension for Tex, and raises for Smoltz and Hudson.

The Yanks youth movement is in full swing... With the likes of Chamberlain and Hughes headlining, I'm willing to bet the Yanks are more than content to pass on Santana, barring something crazy happening.

I hope he can sign with the White Sox or trade him to the National League. I'm tired of him beating the White Sox

I don't think ARod stays in NY if/when he opts out. The city has been part of the problem for him.
