    Re: MVP Dive and Jump

i dont get you guys, why would you ever not want to control the fielders. As someone who played baseball for many years( but was never a pitcher) i find the lack of feilding emphasis in most games really boring. instead of giving 30 different pitch types id rather have a detailed feilding system
if you gotta go...go with a smile

but you are controllin the fielder. you just aren't controllin the dive attempt.

it's like drivin to the lane in a basketball game. The game chooses whether it'll be a shot, dunk, or layup.

In MVP's case, the game will decide if you should attempt to back hand the ball or dive for the ball. I see no problem with that really.

it eliminates diving too late b/c you didn't react in time, and it allows for much more creativity and player animations on the field. I think it's a great idea. It's nothin like WSB for Dreamcast. You CAN control the fielder. You just don't control the dive. I think it makes sense.

I think the main problem is that we are sooo use to controllin the dive that we assume it has to be there. But if done correctly, i'm sure most of us will find it a pleasent inclusion or rather, removal.

as far as the game goes it me play fine. but as far as real baseball, anybody can run to the ball, it takes a real athlete to actually field it! i dont see why they would eliminate such a fundemental part of the game. what if they said all you do is press A and the pitcher throws the ideal pitch?? that wouldnt be very fun because they took away most of the users control

I think its a great idea. For example, last year in ASB it was way to hard to implement the slide/dive feature because
the controls were so unresponsive, not to mention that when you wanted a slide catch, the player jumped straight
up into the air. I also agree that in too many games, the a hot shot down the line is too hard to snag manually because
of the disorientation of the camera movement.

I understand your point. Trust me, I would love to control the dive and jump.

But I also can see where EA is goin with this and it makes sense to me.

I guess all you can do is give it a try. If you like it, then there ya go. If you don't you didn't buy it (assumin you rent the game).

I will definetly try both systems. also, i agree that if there is poor responsivenes then it makes the game even worse. I think the thing i am most intrigued by is the throwing meter. Ive always wanted a game were the errors were your fault and not just a random happening
