Mitchell's report to reveal many names

I'm hesitant to even post this because of how many times ESPN has called wolf in Steroid users being exposed, but what the hell...

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3060689

Sources familiar with the latest developments in the George Mitchell steroids investigation said Friday that the report will name many players, including some big names and some names that have not surfaced to date.
In a conference call Friday with Major League Baseball's 30 teams, Tom Carlucci of the San Francisco-based law firm Foley & Lardner advised teams on the status of Mitchell's probe into the use of performance-enhancing drugs in baseball.
One source told Olney, "This is going to be enormous ... it's going to be a huge story when these names come out."
The report is expected to be released between Oct. 31 and the end of the year.

I'll have to see it to believe it but if it's as big as this source claims it to be then it'll be the 21st century version of the Black Sox Scandal.

Of course they're waiting until AFTER the WS. Now everyone can run and hide! I just hope it's not too many players cuz I can only stand so many press conferences of people professing their innocence, or saying they thought it was flaxseed oil.

Mitchell is out to destroy baseball and the lives of numerous players.

This whole investigation is like a poor man's version of the McCarthy hearings.

Yes, it's MITCHELL who is in the wrong here, not the cheaters he's going to reveal.

hey now man what makes you think we should let the players who did this get away they were well aware of the risk when they did the juice now it's comeing back on them if they didnt want it to come to this no one whould have ever taken any thing and used it

and i bet maybe more then 1 of the players on the llist are on a curent team tht is still in the playoff's but its about time they try to fix this its been going on for to long and some one needs to make a stand and help make baseball a better spot but it will never be a fair game cuz no mather what some one will allways try to add a extra advantage and this makes the game bad at times knowing some players are willing to do any thing ( becomeing cheaters ) just so they can win and get big money to play ball when they all know what they did was wrong.

                any guesses??

                Giles?
                Holliday?
                J. Guillen?
                A. Jones?
                Lowell?

I have wondered about Miguel Cabrera because he is huge and has no neck...he got big quick, too...I hope not, bc he is awesome.

Cabrera just camps out by the clubhouse buffet table.

Anyway I'll start getting interested when I actually hear some times. Several "big reports" have failed to deliver so far.

If Brian Giles still played in the NL Central, he'd still be hitting 20+ home runs. At 36/37 I can't expect him to reach that plateau hitting in a ballpark that surpresses most hitter's power from the left side.

If any other Padre/former-Padre, I'd have to think Ryan Klesko and Phil Nevin go before Brian Giles, heck, maybe even Bubba Trammell before those three. Perhaps Marcus was on it as well. We'll see.

I'm not interested in "justice" or Mitchell's political career or whatever drudging up the past is about. I'm interested in the health of baseball as a sport in this country. Right now it is cruising along as health as can be and dragging the names of players, teams, and records through the mud for no good reason cannot help the sport. The people who care about the steroid controversy aren't really the fans, I don't mean they're not interested because they are to a degree, but it is the media and congress that is using the issue for their own means. Politics and publicity.

The risk? The fault in all this is MLB Baseball and its commissioner who were not able to establish an effective drug testing policy years ago. There was no reason for players to worry about any of this because MLB and Selig didn't bother to act on any of it. At this point, nothing good can come from any of this. It is a purely political and media driven phenomenon.

However by that logic If the fans don't care about the controversy, it won't hurt the game. Sorry Just had to say it before someone else did...

I agree with you though, its not an investigation as much as it is suppost to look like an investigation. Its like Drug dealers, ask almost anyone in your city/town they know who they are, just don't have evidence to catch them.
THe Owners/Players know who cheated, but won't tell or don't have proof.

Its pretty much an investigation to shut people up..Alot of players Juiced, we know that..Instead of Burying someone just clean it up and let it go.I love how the media acts like if we all took steroids next year we'd be MLB ready. OK so they won't take Steroids, but what about HGH & other future supplements, it will go on till the end of time..People have tried to get ahead in sports by any means neccecary forever, why do they think cause they Name Names people won't continue to push the envelope.

Its like when you do somethin wrong with the GF/Wife, years later no matter how much different everything is, she still lets you know about that 1 mistake you made.
