I think we've reached a tipping point where Congress will go beyond just wagging their fingers at MLB and actually take some control. The lies, coverups and overall shadiness of the past 15 or so years is enough cause for riprimand and change. The last time they were on the Hill there wasn't really all that much hard evidence. Now that there is, it's going to be hell to pay.

Indeed and that is why they are called fanatics.

Not ot get off topic, but aren't there bigger fish to fry tan to have our congress worrying about steroids in baseball. Say for instance the war and the possible election of another Numbskull for President? Just my thought though.

Well, one of the sources dealt with him on a daily basis, and two others were baseball people (one current manager, one former player) who pretty much had nothing bad to say about anyone. But yeah, I know what you mean. That's the downside of getting the "inside scoop", I guess.

Thats not what I'm saying. I'm sure the Astros had sources as well. Say the trade didn't happen yesterday but next Monday, 5 days after the report is released. Do you think the Astros want to take a big PR hit like that, that they knowingly traded for a supposed steroid user? They did this deal quickly so that if there is too much backlash now that the deal has happened, the Astros can say "hey, we didn't know he was a user until a few days after."

Truth is, this is the tip of the proverbial iceberg. If you think McGwire and Sosa are clean because they weren't in this report, well, maybe there is a chance China could win an award from the Sierra Club as the cleanest, least-polluting nation on Earth after all.

                Take care,

Exactly. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

                  ...What?

Victor Conte met with Dick Pound?

The Astros FO looks foolish every which way. Almost as bad as the O's FO for having RAMPANT steroids usage in their own clubhouse and turning a blind eye.

It's not bad at all. The crux of his evidence is "he said" from two New York team trainers.

I think it's turned out as laughable as some of us have predicted.
