I think the one area that they already know they've won, and what they're banking on for this year is the online play. I know the game will need lots of other features and improvements to be able to compete with the others, but being the only one with online play will help them a lot this year.

Well Inside Pitch has done some things I have wanted in a baseball game---online play, good graphics except player models need work, Joe Buck announcing, working animated scoreboards--Angels monkey, braves tomohawk etc , specific team chants--Lets go yankees etc, , music rip in game, DD 5.1

Now-- needs to get gameplay right
GOOD pitcher batter interface--needs camera editor for views--bit higher so you can see field when batting to shoot for holes
Fatigue/Injury system especially for pitchers similar to ID2003
Swing should be on triggers and d-pad for direction
Controller should vibrate when contact with ball--fouls,grounders and pop-ups should feel different than HR's or good hits that carry
Pitchers accuracy similar to freethrow shooting depending on pitchers accuracy rating and fatigue level
Jump and dive button for fielding
Tons of fluid animations--ID is fluid
Scaling of players and better player models
Shadows and sun effects
Wind effects and stadium effects on the ball--minnesota dome effect, colorado HR etc
Proper rotations-I know there is no franchise but if we can get this it would be all good
Good selection of pitches--15-20 different pitches in game would be good--realistic pitchers actual pitches
Streaks and slumps with rivalries
Tons of sliders to edit for a REALISTIC game if desired
Mound visits and warm-ups in bullpen
GOOD AI baserunning and bench moves--relief pitchers, pinch hitters
In game saves
5,7,9 inning games

The best part in a way, is that the game still has a few months of dev time left, I guess they just released this to get feedback from fans, hopefully they fix up some things that look weird, and really fine tune gameplay.

This game looks really nice. Unfortunately I'm not sold on how well this game will play. Microsoft has never proven to be much of a developer when it comes to sports gams. But I'm keeping an open mind until I have a chance to rent it.

There are so many quality baseball games coming out this year. Great for us.

No. Microsoft games are exclusive to the Xbox (with exceptions to some games being on PC).
