Re: MVP Interview @ Sportplanet
Maybe someone here (Steve was it?) can answer this but this is the second time that Ive read an interivew and there has been a question about the code. It seems kind of wierd especially since they used the exact same terminology in the question in both cases. My question is do the websites allow the interviewee to script some of their questions?Comment

It's either that or they have answered the same question so many times they give a pre-formatted answer, kinda like some athletes.Comment

Re: MVP Interview @ Sportplanet
Actually, I was the one that conducted the interview. When I put the interview together, none of the other interviews were yet posted up (including the one here).
There's no restrictions in regards to the types of questions we can ask, in fact, I just put together things submitted from visitors to the site and from whatever I could think of.
Honestly, I've been covering this game for years, seen it's rise and it's demise into oblivion and I must say, I'm very impressed on where this title is heading and the attention they are putting on fan sites like ours.
I've even had their PR department send me screenshots and other material without me even asking for it, which actually shocked me a bit. It'd be nice if there was alot more of that out there.
From the interview, it's very clear that the attention going forward is going to be on a simulation of the sport vs. the slugfest of past Triple Play's. That's all good as far as I'm concerned.Comment

Jason Leigh, MVP Baseball Game Designer: We tried to include as many subtleties as possible this year. You will see broken bats (which look and play awesome), double switches, and dirty uniforms. Each stadium has its own grass cut, and many of the stadiums have their own unique home run celebration animations. You’ll see the tiger’s eyes light up in Detroit, the big apple move up and down in Shea and the train move in Houston. As for the players, you’ll see unique batting stances complete with individual swings, hand animations, and incredible facial animation. It looks amazing when the pitcher is winding up and you see him grit his teeth as he delivers. In our behind the pitcher view, you’ll also see the catcher’s glove close on the ball, which looks sweet.

Behind the picther view??? Say it so!Comment

Re: MVP Interview @ Sportplanet
I think he actually meant behind the catcher view. The thing he said about seeing the glove move to meet the ball wouldn't really make much sense from way behind the pitcher. I'll try to follow up on that. I never understood why EA's resisted this camera angle in the past. I'm not saying to make it the default, but at least make it an option.Comment

Re: MVP Interview @ Sportplanet
Good interview but I feel like the EA producer is side-stepping questions about extra features. MVP sounds like it may be a little too "vanilla" when it comes to extras.
I guess that's what I should expect from first year code.Comment
