McCarver is the Madden of baseball.
I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Soccer is the best sport on Earth, but most Americans are too ignorant to realize it. I am American.

I disagree. Madden does love the sound of his voice and tries very hard to be a "personality" but I have heard him, often, show really good insight into the game.

I normally love Joe Buck. He is good at both baseball and football. But this postseason he was horrible. I also think that an analyst can definetley have a negative effect on a play-by-play guy. Look at Jon Miller. He is a great announcer, but put him with Morgan and all he does is stroke the man's twelve foot ego. And Morgan is horrible too. He has more knowledge than McCarver, but he is horrible self-promoting and I can't stand him.

Morgan is all about himself. He relates everything to his baseball days and how because he played baseball he knows more than anyone. He's also the king of pointing out the obvious. And the worst is when he continues talking about the same thing. I also love his ability to flip flop during a game but NEVER make mention of how he was wrong.

I just ask anyone to watch a game Morgan does while there are shadows over the batter's box. Just watch and you'll see all of the above I mentioned.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
