    Actually, it's more an oligarchy.

Opinions are fine here. Attacks aren't. It's not that difficult to tell the difference.

Warning, eh! What is this a dictatorship! Junior high, I played college ball at a community college and some years in the minors, on a single A level team. I had to retire due to a life threatening disease. I guess it was a blessing in disguise, because I finished graduate school. If you played at a higher level than me, than excuse me for speaking out of turn, I salute you. I completed the masters program at USC in history. I now teach journalism at a community college in Southern California, and I know that I have a right to state my opinion in this forum. I believe I was justified in my opinion, so I don't apologize for my opinion, but I do apologize for offending you. It was not my intention to anger you. I just wanted to get my opinion out. The constitution guarantees us our right to free speech. I never used any inappropriate or offensive language, like many other people do. I never said I didn't like it here, I was merely stating my opinion. If I did not like it I would have left some time ago. I have seen the TOS, I am aware of the stipulations for flaming, but again I don't think I was guilty of this. If you are really a sports gaming expert, why had you never heard about the Rule V Draft. You knew from the previews that it was going to be included in this installment of ASB, or at least you should have. It was on the Acclaim Sports game site. It really is no big deal, I just thought it was funny that you are classified as an expert. The self-proclaimed part was something I shouldn't have included in my remark. I AM SORRY. Aside from that I though your early impressions were great. I agree with you. Thanks for the information. Don't hold a grudge, life is too short. You are too busy to stay angry at me, aren't you?

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

      A few things:

      1) No, you don't have the right to state your opinion in this forum. You are allowed to state your opinion in this forum. It's not constitutionally protected.

      2) When did I say I'd never heard of the Rule 5 Draft? I played ball. I'm a season ticket holder. I did Sports Radio in a small market for 3 years. BUT...that doesn't mean that I understand all the nuances of it.

      3) I, nor any one on this Staff, use the word expert. Yes, I did after you used it. But look at the term. As a journamlism teacher, I would think you would no more then anyone how that is one of the most misused words in the English language.

      4) Food for thought along those lines... John Clayton and Mel Kiper...ESPN and a lot of society considers them experts...never took a snap in their lives!!

      5) Don't patronize me.

      Apology accepted.

      Warning stands.

      Thanks for coming.

Well, I use the Tigers and I K'd 6 once and 7 once. Both with Steve Sparks and Franklin German (relief). That's a average to above average game for them. Seems pretty close. I've not walked anyone yet though.

Flipside. I've been walked a few times. And K'd a lot!! They mix their pitches well. Radke got me for 13 K's in 8 innings!!

Re: Clay\'s Early Early Early Impressions (That don\'t SUCK)

Couple more quicks hits from last night's action:

                  - Nice physics on the broken bats. Kind of cool thing that I noticed was I broke a bat once with good contact and it made a cracking/breaking wood sound. Then, in another game, Bobby Higginson got jammed on the hands and hit it with the thin part. The bat shattered and made like a crystal breaking sound. Not real realistic, but a nice effect!

                  - Too many over the shoulder running catches

                  - Nice scale on the stadiums. Comerica Park really plays deep.

                  - Played a pick-up game and Chan Ho Park was the only pitcher available, so I had to use a position player. I don't know how often that happens, but it was a neat effect. Made me pick between loading up on the available bats or nabbing the pitcher.

                  - I love that they have House of Pain's "Jump Around" as one of the walk-up tunes!

                  - While the players models aren't the best, they did a nice job on faces. Even the low end Tigers look like their real life counterparts (besides the real young guys).

                  - Commentary is growing on me. I'm not fond of the play-by-play, but sometimes they'll get into a discussion about a topic that will last a whole inning, but will break in stride for a call.

                  Example:
They were talking about who the best hitter in baseball is. Lyons said Helton, but then they started just talking about people like Ichiro, Arod and stuff and they'd do things like...

"Steve I think AROD brings a lot to the table...as we look at a called strike...he has so much power."

                  Great touch! Very real.

Spanish announcer is a nice touch too.

                  - AI Baserunning is nice and aggressive, but not automatic. I've had outfield assists on the AI trying to score from 2nd on a single.

Acclaim has set the bar for the season.

                  Stay tuned.

Sounds like some interesting information. It'll certainly be worth the 4.99 rent. Sometimes people make me laugh...because it's this giant debate...."I knew it would suck" whatever. Why everyone doesn't just rent it and find it out for themselves. Then you're only out $5. I think some Blockbusters even allow you to put that credit towards the game if you buy a copy after renting it.

Instead it's potshots from the sidelines by a lot of people that will never buy the game. And that goes for most sports titles covered

Oh, and glad to see that someone other than me is stupid enough to use the Tigers

I'll be so bold as to go on record right now saying it is 100% worth a rental. Too early to give a solid call on plunking down 50-Bones. But 100% rental worthy!!
