I'd offer Kennedy, Melky, Horne, either Jackson or Tabata, and maybe one more lesser prospect like Marquez.

I wish Hank would shut his mouth. So far I'm sort of optimistic that he's not a bad decision maker. I don't like what they did to Torre, but I do like Girardi. He's spoken a number of times about how they need to continue to build through the farm system. But he makes himself look like an idiot all the time when he relays every single thought that goes through his head to the media for no reason at all.

It's going to cost you more than that....Phil Hughes is a definite. Not sure if they really want Melky anymore with Monroe now signed. Also, Minny knows Boy George is panicking since the Pettite news and as the late great Don Adams (agent 86) would say, "And loving it".

              I said that's what I would offer.

If that's not enough I'd walk away.

I don't know why the Yankees need to panic, what's the Pettitte news have to do with next season?

Will he or won't he be suspended? If so, how many games? How will his body hold up? Is Pettitte prone to injury? Can he be effective? And to believe that he only did it twice sounds false. Doctors on some of the news reports in NY had a doctor discuss HGH for healing and suggested that if people are using them to heal faster, it takes more than 2 shots or 2 days. It would take multiple shots and or multiple months.

So what I'm saying is once they stop, they lose it, and fast.

I seriously doubt he'll be suspended.

I think you are making a lot of assumptions, he said he only used it twice, and what the trainer says backs that up.

And there is still no test, so if he's been using them all this time, there's no real reason for him to stop.

And even if he took them multiple months, that's back in 2002. He's had surgery on his elbow since then, so I really doubt he's been using it consistently all this years.

Boston remains the expected destination for Minnesota lefty Johan Santana. The two teams have agreed on three of four players the Red Sox will give up - Jon Lester, Jed Lowrie and Justin Masterson. The Red Sox, refusing Minnesota's request for Jacoby Ellsbury, are adamant the fourth player be outfielder Coco Crisp.

I always had a feeling the Sox were just dangling Ellsbury in a lesser package with the belief that Minnesota's need for young pitching would make the Lester version more appeasable. The Yanks didn't bite by upping their offer (yet), and it seems like Minnesota is having a hard time walking away without Jacoby or Clay. The Sox hand is becoming a little more transparent ...

If anything is going to happen (and I still consider it a long-shot for Minnesota to open the year with Santana) it won't happen until the new year. Despite the last couple of reports to filter out last week, I don't think the Sox and Twins are at all close on anything and they're just mired in a stalemate. The Sox won't up its offer so long as it isn't bidding against anyone and Minnesota obviously feels like it needs more talent in return for Santana.

This could well end up going into Spring training, though with the current stalemate, I wouldn't be shocked if a team suddenly jumped in, made a huge offer and stole him from the Sox. Of course, they'd still win since he didn't end up in pinstripes. The Dodgers for instance, if they put a deal that included some combination of Kershaw, Loney, and Billingsly or LaRoche and Either. Then i think they jump on it kind of knowing the Sox aren't going to give up Jacoby.

I visualize the daily phone call between the Twins and Sox going like this:

Twinkies - Are you ready to give us Lester and Ellsbury yet?
Sox - We told you, it's one of the packages we offered or nothing. We want your guy, we really want him, but we don't need him. Sorry.
Twinkies - Okay, well we'll call you tomorrow and ask if you're ready to cave in yet.
                            Sox - ...m'kay.

I'm kind of surprised Santana is still a Twin. They're in a no-win situation since they'll eventually lose Santana and teams know they don't have to trade their whole future for him when they can just get him for a nice, cheap cost of at least $20 mil a year.

I think the suitors are playing their cards right. No need for Boston to budge and give Ellsbury and Lester. The same for other teams. I hope he doesn't go to Boston because they already have one of the best rotations is not THE best rotation in baseball.
