I'm not the biggest fan of ASB, but I've got to admit that this year it has improved by leaps and bounds.

**This coming from a man who has HATED ASB in years past**

First of all, change the "game speed" to FAST and the game moves along at a much better pace.

You can choose from a variety of batting interfaces, so other than the innovations that EA Sports is coming out with, this game includes all of the batting interfaces found in the other games.

Granted, it still needs to allow the game to select a better camera, improved collision detection, and better ambiance, but overall the game is much improved from last year IMO.

Will it be my baseball game of choice this year? Who knows? Probably not, but I've given it a shot and it's holding me over until the others hit so I can see how they play.

I think you are jumping to conclusions about baseball games this year. Wait for them all to come out before breaking down the bad features of each game. You can only tell so much from movies like game level, players and settings.

Personally I think this year is great for everyone who likes baseball. There is almost a game for everyone. No game is perfect.

        Cheer up!

in regards to not enough groundballs, Steve said in the MVP impressions thread that there were plenty of groundballs and that some pitchers got more flyballs than others he said it was about 50/50. I think ill trust Steve on this one.

There's just one problem with how they have the hitting thing... you can CHOOSE whether you want to hit fly balls or ground balls. It's freestyle controls (like Live 2003) with the left analog stick.

With a cursor, it depends on where you place it (talking about WSB 2K3). If you're over it, 90% of the time will be a ground ball. Under, 90% flies. To the left of it, 90% right field. To the right of it, 90% left field. And etc.

Power will just help you hit it farther.

fiedler2k3 is so far off its not even funny. First off he has basically made all his opinions based on previews. The previews are built to show parts of the game and not the whole thing. The pitches are being thrown right down the plate on purpose so you can see more outcomes. You know, come to think of it I havent seen any baseball game movies with double plays at all. I guess those arent in the game right? I also guess you have never seen a good movie that had a bad trailer right? Give me a break.

And to even mention NFL2k3 makes me worry about you right off the bat. That game was very poorly put together from simmed stats not meshing with your game, to simmed QB's that never throw above 60%, to players in the rain that are covered in mud BEFORE the game starts, or how about the absolute inabiliy to get sacks at all.

I also think the High Heat series is terrible. In fact I will say that ASB has a lot more going for it than High Heat does. Inside Pitch, WSB and MVP also have much more potential than High Heat. I understand it perhaps you are a stat freak and even though I like releastic stats, if its perfect stats I want then I will play OOTP text baseball games.

In conclusion I feel that a majority of us own an Xbox or a PS2 because we want an engine that has nice annimations/graphics AND some nice gameplay and stat tracking. Every game comming out this year has some qualities like that.

In effect, I disagree with your post 100%. I feel this years crop is the best year ever.

But that is just my humble opinion...

Hey, ever since I signed Warren Sapp for my Niners franchise, my team TOGETHER (with Sapp, Strahan, and Young), I get about 8 sacks a game!!! Not only with them, but they give me big boosts.

I totally agree with you on the High Heat part, but for MVP movies, just from the hits that they showed on it anyway (not arguing about homers), but sometimes the CPU was hitting, and it seems fairly hard to strike out on the game.
