    Re: Jim Edmonds to Padres

As much as I like to see the Pads finally get a caliber player like Jim Edmunds, he is at the end of his career. I guess the team is hoping they can get a bounce back year like they did with Piazza back in '06. It would be cool to get Jason Bay but my thinking is the team wants to go with developing its own players - hence, we'll probably see Headley out there in LF with Jerry Hairston Jr as back up. Too bad that gives the team more left handed hitters in an unfriendly to lefty's ballpark.

I'm pulling for Edmonds to have a bounce back year, one of my favorite Cardinals ever. I'm just not sure how well his play will work in Petco, I hope I'm wrong and he has a good year at the plate and wins another gold glove though.

Playing at old Busch Stadium Edmonds used to average 35 doubles per season so if Edmonds is healthy he could at least be a good doubles hitter at Petco.

Yea I also wish only the best to Edmonds he had a great run in StL, if he can stay healthy he'll be fine but when you play the way he does its tough to keep from getting hurt.

He's declining and probably won't rebound. Basically a stopgap for a year.

Edmonds has been one of my favorite Cardinal players but he doesn't have it anymore. The Cardinals needed to move him.

Jason Bay isn't coming here at the expense of Chase Headley. Hell, the Pirates may take a pitcher along with Headley and it'll be Giles/Bay/Perez part II.
