I remember a couple years ago if you created lets say Nolan Ryan and put him on the Astros he couldn't wear 34 because it was retired. Can you use retired numbers this year?

Re: Creating old time players...we need a sticky!
I had no problem using Ruth's #3 and Gehrig's #4 EXCEPT......I create my player and save the roster. If I go back and make changes (such as creating another player) then play an exhibition game, the numbers on my created players changes (instead of #3 Ruth will be #34, etc.). I have to change the numbers again and re-save. This really is irritating.
I also had problems creating Waite Hoyt for the Yanks. I created him as a starting pitcher (which put him into free agency). Went to roster management and "traded" Roger Clemens for him. Starter for starter. But when I went to play a game Hoyt was not listed as a choice for starting pitcher. One of the Yankee middle relievers was "promoted" to starter and Hoyt was listed as a reliever. I had to do a lot of messing around with free agency before Hoyt would finally be listed as starter. The one gripe I have about this game is the inability to set your starting pitcher lineups at will for exhibition games......unless I'm missing something.
To answer your question LHayes...you should be able to do Nolan Ryan....just make sure the number doesn't get changed later on. Otherwise it should work OK.Comment
