The almighty .OPS Baseball Prospectus god has decided to grace us w/ his presence again. Oh thank thee for stopping by to tell us how we know nothing of thy game of baseball. We are ever so fortunate to have you share with us your knowledge and expertise of the perfect MVP. For those of you who think that 20 homers, 20 triples, 20 doubles, and 20 stolen bases are a means to an MVP are mere novices to the ways of sabremetrics and expanded statistics.

Clearly a few of you on this thread believe Rollins should not have won. You've made your point. It hasn't changed our minds. So what if all of the people on here applauding J-Roll are from philly...He's our boy...You expect us to say Matt Holliday should've won?

    Flame on flamers... Flame on.

Well, at least you've admitted you aren't capable of being objective, that's a start.

This would be a good argument if it meant something, and if someone else didn't do it the same year and appeared seventh or higher on just four ballots.

I guess this thread just further proves that homers will be homers, and no amount of statistics, reason, or evidence can change their mind. It's as big a part of OS as WVU jokes and won't be changing.

I think he recognizes that the only people who support rollins are from philly. Its something and probably about as much as we can hope for.

BTW, I'm going to run an experiment. You are a Minnesota fan. You also read FJM and other baseball related material. Do you think Morneau should have won last year?

I just about did a back flip when he won, but no he probably shouldn't have. A reasonable argument could be made that he was only the 3rd most valuable player on the Twins team.

See, this is the damn problem. You two have baited and baited on this friggin' subject since the voting and guess what...it's going attract the reaction you two have gotten.

It's not fair to call us homers on the subject because all of us wouldn't have had a problem if Rollins wasn't named MVP. We stated that from the jump.

I don't know if you two just glanced over that fact or really didn't know how us Phillies fans felt on that, but you can go back and read the first thread on this when the voting happened.

We know the damn stats already, ok? It's been drilled into our brains from stat nerds since kingdom come.

We know all the damn arguments you guys have put out there. You guys keep kicking us in the head with it.

But what the **** do you want us to do, huh? Go protest to the voters and say "Voters, us Philadelphia fans need you guys re-vote on the 2007 NL MVP in order to satisfy these two fools on OperationSports.com and we need it done in a jiffy! If not, they are going to bother us about it until we die." That crap just isn't going to happen. We don't have that power.

So I suggest that you two just get over the fact that the voting happened and Rollins was named MVP. Don't agree with it? Fine. But to harass the hell out of us because we are happy for Rollins is getting really gotdamn annoying. To the point where I, personally, want to put people on ignore, but I don't want to do that because I feel you guys are good people and enjoy your posts.

But you two really need to suck this **** up and move on. I know us Philly fans have. We don't sit up here salivating to argue about this same damn argument over and over and over again. I know Miami beat Ohio State in in the Fiesta Bowl in '02, but I got over it.

              Somebody kill this thread. Please.

This was never said before and thought it needed to be mentioned in this thread...

Rollins was the first SS in MLB HISTORY to collect at least 30 homers, 30 doubles, 20 triples, and 40 stolen bases... Again... 1st SS in MLB History to do that. Something to think about when you consider all of the great SS to have played the game.

And Hanley Ramirez was the first PLAYER in MLB HISTORY to collect at least 29 homers, 48 doubles, and 50 steals. Something to think about when you consider all of the great PLAYERS to have played the game.

And he did it in 80 fewer at-bats than Rollins. Your best argument is to stay as far away from offense as possible.

I'm not knocking his achievement, but being the first player to do something in MLB isn't exactly a reason to give them the MVP. I bet I could find something for every player that they were the first to do.

I had just read that blurb about Rollins on MLB.com's site. I thought it needed to be mentioned here regardless of if I said kill it...blah blah blah.
