GridironGamer, I totally agree with you. I love to blow games... I know it sounds weird, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Things happen, and it's nice to blow a game every once in a while... and I'm serious.

There should also be things like a player will miss a bag, but YOU have to notice it and appeal it (MVP should have it becaues the got the pic-in-pic baserunning). Or say... bat slips out of batter's hands. Or hows about player collision? We haven't seen that since MLB 2001 on PSX. That was pretty funny looking, but it needs to look real in these ones.

There are also some others, umpires should make some bad calls every once in a while... like for outs or strikes or foul balls, etc. I am also yet to see a fan running onto the field and being chased down.

I have many many more things, but cannot think of them.

Florida I never said I didn't like the idea. I do if it is done right. But the majority of baseball game players (and many reviewers such as Idiot Gaming News ) would complain they were "out of control." This would hurt sells and the companies will have none of this.

P.S. I think you need to do a little more research on this "50 years of randomness." Its only been in the last 5 to 7 years home game systems have been powerful enough to attempt something such as "randomness"--- and I mean true randomness, not rare, but entirely predictable abberations. Yes, Big Blue (the IBM computer that plays chess) and the Military comps have been capable of this for a long time. But I dont have a couple a trillion dollars to play a video game. Game Designers are attempting to add randomness to their games, but most of it feels "canned" so far. I don't mind it taking awhile. But I also don't want it in my HH or WSB if it is not done well. Whats better: Innovation haphazardly implemented (cough..ASB..cough) or solid "familiar" gameplay? I will go with solid gameplay any day.

I just thought Id point out that ASB has much of what youre wanting. Ive played 15 games or so and have had 1 passed ball i think. This game does an excellent job with these sorts of things. This game is very addictive. I know you they should have been online by now, but what I wish for is some sort of managerial function where there might be a baserunner aggressiveness rating. This would work similar to the agressiveness slider in Madden/NCAA. If you have the aggressiveness set so high you will see such occurrences like running to third. In Madden/NCAA with this sliders set so high teams really dont like to go for the punt of the FG. There do seem to be models to work from or at least let you know its possible. Seriously though, I would really like to see a variance in style/strategy from team to team based on the managers.

I like the idea of more randomness...

The problem is that the developers abuse this to a point. Let's take ASB for example and the spectacular catches. what's wrong with the normal simple two handed catches, instead ASB uses an engine to the CPU calculates the last possible moment the CPU can get to the ball and make a play.

Plus developers seem unwilling to put something in that you might see once in 20 games.

the only way to pull this off is to make sure these "random moments" aren't too regular. Every once in a while and the user will come on these boards and say this is why this game is so great because so and so just happened to me.

Plus baseball games need to get the fundamental right before they can add all these frills. If they don't it just looks like stupids AI.

I think HH2003 did a pretty damn good job last year. i can tell you, i played every game of a 162 game season and definitely didn't find myself getting bored.

I'm leaning towards WSB, as I actually was able to play that game last year for about a month before it got boring.

That is longer then the normal 1-2 weeks that it takes for them to bore me.

I have been a huge baseball fan since the mid 70's and it is by far my favorite sport. But pretty much everything you mentioned are the things that I don't like about baseball. There's nothing I hate more than seeing a player on my team get called out on a really bad call. Umpire randomness?.. not something I want in a game I play. A player missing a bag?... not something I should have to look for while I'm trying to field a ball. There are 9 players on the field, but only 1 of me. I want to play a game to have fun, not get frustrated.

Fans running onto the field?... I thought I had heard it all.

The normal gamer wouldn't like at ALL! I know I would, even though it is there, just not enough.

Proof of this is hearing what peopel say on XBL. One time I was leading by 4 point with about 10 seconds left and the other dude was on the 2 yard line. He dropped back, had great blocking so that his receivers could work the zone, and then threw a pass to his TE. He dropped it . He was all alone. He threw his controller on his tv and went off on me and also on the fact he should've won. People can't deal with randomness. A lot of people get extremely mad if things don't go the way they are suppose to be.
