Re: Any Ranger Fans Create Mark Teixeira?

Gonzo will probably be gone after the seaon...This is Everett's contract year so I expect him to put up pretty decent numbers but I don't think he'll command that big a salary at his age and with his track history. If Valdes can get any run support this year, he should win between 10-15 games. That was the biggest problem last year with him...he got no run support. Don't be surprised to see Kenny Rogers back with the Rangers. I hope we can get him back as he's the one who's learned how to pitch in Arlington. Tom Hicks says that he wants Ralphie back, we'll see after the season.

SoMiss....we're on the same page buddie! There aren't many people that agree with me when it comes to the Rangers. I've said all along, that Valdes had a great year last year...he had the 5th lowest run support in the majors last year. I remember him personally, leaving with a lead 7 times and watching the bullpen blow his lead. It got to where everytime he left, the tv camera would swing to him in the dugout and he would always be so disgusted because he had just went out and pitched 7 innings of great baseball and the bullpen gives up 4 runs. Of the record 32 blown saves we had, I think 12 of them might have been Valdes'. And I think all signs point to Rogers signing with the Rangers after May 1st...as a matter of fact, I don't know where you live, but I live in the Dallas area, and I listen to the Ticket, Hicks was on the other day, and said he would love to have Rogers back, but not at the 2 year $10 million they offered him a couple of months ago. I doubt he gets more than $1 or 2 million per year now. Boras really steered him in the wrong direction that time. And this rotation desperately needs a lefty...especially if Davis doesn't regain his form from a couple of years ago. I remember thinking Davis was going to be a stud...something went wrong with him. Some say it was Acosta. By the way, Gamestop just called me, the game is in, I'm headed that way!!! Talk to ya later.

im a huge ranger fan also. I think Texas is developing some really quality young offensive and defensive players but their bullpen seems to be the same sorry group that they put out there last year. When does Zimmerman come back? Powell, Cabrera and Van Poppel are our best chances of having even an average bullpen. If the Rangers would have had even an average bullpen last year, Texas would have been above .500. I Cant wait for the season to start, this will be an interesting year no matter what Texas does record wise it will be intriguing to see how their young guys are developing and how Texas is building for the future.

Whoever said that Tiexiera might be moved to 1st, that sounds like a really good idea. With Tiex at 1st, Raffy can play DH half the time and maybe get more rest, which will definetely benefit Raffy's hitting. That leaves Blalock (lefty) and Perry (righty) at 3rd. The Rangers can really do a lot with those guys alternating. Tiexiera at first would be a good idea.

I don't know who Cabrera is...never heard of him. But, actually, I think the bullpen was the most improved part of this team IMO. Urbina and Fultz along with Yan, this bullpen is much better, by the way, the subtraction of Rocker and Irabu will improve the bullpen also. Ahh, I got it, you probably meant Cordero?? Francisco Cordero, and he is a stud!

yea, Cordera is what i meant. They really did TRY and improve the bullpen but it remains to be seen if they succeeded. Urbina, Fultz, and Yan are basically average pitchers right now, although they do have tremendous potential. I am not sold, however. They tried to shore up the bullpen last year also, and look what happened. I hope the bullpen plays well, but im afraid that they did not improve enough. I hope im wrong.

                      Urbina....40+saves.....all star....average??? Hmm.
And I'll take Fultz, Yan, and Urbina over Rocker and Irabu any day of the week. Guarantee you this, they will not blow 32 saves this year!

Urbina is a hell of a pitcher. However, the bullpen as a whole sucks. Look what is happening to the bullpen in spring training. I know spring training doesnt count, but they are still getting rocked. It is going to take a whole lot more than Urbina to shore up the rangers bullpen. You need some setup men to even give a closer like Urbina a chance. The Rangers' closers are fine, but they need setup men to keep the game close going into the late innings. Urbina is good for 2 innings at the most. The rangers' problems last year was their setup men, and this year they will be improved but still one of the worst bullpens in the league. I hope Im wrong, and even if im not wrong and Texas has a bad bullpen, they can still win a lot of games this year with other talent that they have. Their bullpen will have their moments this year, but as a whole the Rangers still need more help in that area. Maybe when Zimmerman comes back at full strength and we sign Rogers, so we can move one of the projected starters into the bullpen, then they will be in good shape.

I am a huge Ranger fan and will watch them win or lose like always. I was born in Arlington and raised in the Dallas area and i have always been a huge Ranger backer. They are the only team I can pull for. I am being objective and realistic, dont act like im attacking your team, because they are my team too.
