Re: What Is The Longest Home Run You Ever Saw...
Depends. Are we also including the HR Derby?
If not, McGwire hit one that went 473ft at Three Rivers that I was at.
If we do include the HR derby, I saw plenty of 500+ ft HR's at the HR Derby at Three Rivers Stadium. Griffey and Frank Thomas both went upper deck. Frank hit one to left center field that smacked off of a sign that was hanging from the upper deck. That one traveled 519ft.Comment

b) The McGwire HR off Randy Johnson in the Kingdome has to be the most powerful, and likely the longest had it not been inside a dome, one I've ever seen. To my knowledge, up to that point in Kingdome history, nobody had hit one into the upper-deck in left. McGwire hit a fastball from Johnson halfway up the wall of the dome above the last row of seats in the upper-deck in left. Had it not been in a dome, Lord knows where that ball would have ended up.

This wasn't a home run, but Sheffield turned on a Gil Meche fastball back in '02 or '03. He ended up pulling it foul, but he hit it so hard it cleared all 3 decks and the roofline of Safeco's leftfield foul territory out onto 1st Ave. That would have challenged McGwire's blast if Sheffield would have straightened it out.Last edited by Coug00; 02-22-2008, 11:37 AM.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

a) Even though it didn't count, during BP before Game 1 of the 1990 World Series, I was sitting with my grandpa in our seats about a third of the way up in the red reserve in-line with the left-field foulpole at Riverfront Stadium, when Jose Canseco hit it off a seat about two rows in front of us. That is a monster shot for that stadium and I never saw or heard anyone hit one even close to that area there.Last edited by SlimKibbles; 02-22-2008, 08:14 PM.MLB: Cincinnati Reds

Re: What Is The Longest Home Run You Ever Saw...
I don't remember any from in person, but 2 from TV:
1) Brent Clevlen in 2006 hit one off David Wells at Fenway that cleared the green monster and went out of the park. That was just ridiculous.
2) Carlos Pena hit one at Comerica in 2005 about 461 feet to CF.Comment

I can't remember any in person..but Pujols off Lidge was un-****ing-believable.
How about the one that Bonds hit in Game 6 of the 2002 World Series? That one was probably the most powerful HR I've ever seen in my life.Comment

I was just about to bring that one up and I don't remember the year, but I can recall the Big Cat crushing one into the upper deck in Florida.Comment
