EA is not purposely trying to defraud anyone, either. They just try to put out games that will appeal to all people, not just the sim heads or the casual players who like more of an arcade slant. They want to sell as many games as they can, and can you say that they have not succeeded at that?

Good point, EA is'nt trying to appeal to hardcore gamers or arcade players but to everybody.
But I disagree on the defrauding point, I feel that EA does'nt try hard enough on thier games b/c they know they will sell.
Its almost like a musician who put out a double platinum album, then follow up with some trash b/c they know it will go double platinum again.

I agree, as I did before, that EA puts out a lot of inferior games. However, I don't see it is them "falling off". I think it's more that the competitor's games have gotten a lot better over the years. EA's games are about the same quality level as they have always been, IMO. They simply tend to slant toward the arcade side more, except for Madden. That is enough to sell it to most buyers.

As far as EA games I own, they are :

Knockout Kings 2002- I bought it because although it is a button masher, it is a fun 2 player game. Also, there was no alternative available until Rocky came out.

Madden- I prefer Madden over Sega's 2K series, plain and simple. The game just "feels" better to me. I have owned every Madden game there is, and I don't plan to stop that trend anytime soon.

That's all I own for EA Sports. I do have a few EA Big games, and I plan on getting MVP because while it doesn't appear it will be the most realistic game, it looks like it will be fun for me. That is the reason I play games.

I went off on the whole marketing tangent because you gave the impression that they are pompous asses who knowingly put shovelware out on the market to spite us all. It was so far from the truth.

Actually, Sega's been around making video games with regularity since the early 70's, and it's roots start in the mid 50's with founder David Rosen.
He purchased the Japanese jukebox company Se rvice Ga mes, and they released their first game, "Periscope", in 1967.
Sega Enterprises was purchased by Gulf & Western in 1970, and became the company we know today, albeit in it's nascent stages...

EA, in contrast, was founded in 1982 by "Trip" Hawkins (now the head of 3DO).

Damn it sdrotar, now why'd you have to slap me in the face like that. You just gave me the hand--

Anyway sportsordeath now I agree with you, its not that EA has put out garbage but they have always been the same. They, in reality have never been a sim. Its just that the comp has gotten better.

Now I'm gonna throw all that crap about EA defrauding and being Satan out the window. Its just that I've outgrown EA and come to realize that their games are'nt my type of flavor. The reason we still buy EAs games is because its reconizable and we as consumers dont like to experiment, espeacially when it comes to games.

You are totaly right that EA has never really changed, they've been the same arcade/sim games since Lakers v. Celtics.

Something like this has happened numerous times before with games from various companies. Two that recently come to mind are Ubisoft with Splinter Cell and Sega with Toe Jam & Earl.

Graphik

just so you know, personally I dont consider you a fanboy, but just a person with an honest opinion, like almost evryone else here.

Personally, I buy games for my enjoyment, and my enjoyment alone. While all games have their flaws, most games are pretty decent because alot of hard work goes into it.

To come full circle, MVP looks like a decent to good game. While it has some features that still remind me of TP (The PS1 vers), like the directional batting, it still looks like its worth a shot. At worst, if I dont like it, I can buy another title, or sell it to a friend. Plus, I only pay like $40 for games, so its all good.

EA is not the Devil, more like a Demi-God.

LOL Some of your posts here are ridiculous. You talk about EA like they are trying to spoil games for everyone. SO Madden and Ncaa are spoiling the football genere. I think if these games weren't out i don't know what i would do. I HATE Sega football and Fever so I would be screwed I guess. Let's play the game before we play it and Graphik don't buy the game and let it be, don't try to persuade people to buy the game you like just because you don't like EA, you sound like you work for SEGA or something.
