He didn't deserve the Cy either.

Re: Well Zito started out the year well
There are multiple bad contracts to big name starters. I know that, but a lot of people thought that Zito would be great in San Fran before he imploded. Although I will admit there were warning signs, even some OS'ers who follow the A's closely were saying he was going to be a bust.
BTW Carl Pavano didn't have the star cache of Zito when he signed his deal with the Yanks. I'd compare Zito's situation to Mike Hampton who virtually fell off the map.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

If we're talking worst contracts then we have to look at two prime examples. Two guys that were never stars and for some reason were given star money.
Kevin Brown was a star. He was going to get paid. Hampton? Pretty much a star. Zito a star. Pavano was pretty much on his way to stardom and even then he made about $10 million per. Hardly the worse contact ever given to a pitcher.
No, I'm talking about two huge busts.
2. Denny Neagle.
1. Darren Dreifort.

He's just doing what typical heart breakers do. When things are going down they show you a glimpse of greatness to get your hopes up so they can bring them down again.
