I always thought A-Rod was on the juice ever since he went to NY so that's not surprising. As for wanting Canseco's wife....I don't doubt it. A-Rod seems petty and stupid enough to do that.

Add to that he's a male whore and Canseco's wife being hot, I think we have the perfect storm to believe Canseco on this one.Comment

Re: Canseco back at it again
I believe Canseco too. I believe he said pretty much nothing about Arod. What, he introduced him to some guy who is a dealer? So what? If I read the book and there's more to it than just a meet and greet with some dealer, then we're on to something but right now it is much ado about nothing.
I'm not trying to be naive here because deep down, I think Arod has probably done it. I'm skeptical about all the power hitters in the league. But Canseco mentions Arod strictly out of vindictiveness.Comment

Re: Canseco back at it again
Obviously, you can't prove it either way but if you believe Canseco on this I think you need to get your head checked. Sure, tons of players have used steriods but what about A-Rod would lead you to believe he took them? His body hasn't magically blown up like a balloon, he's been an MVP canidate every single year since he been a regular player (should have won the MVP in 1996). His numbers have been consistent and seasons when he hit his highest amount of home runs he was in a hitters park in the prime of his career. Where is the evidence that he's done steriods? Some of Canseco's claims haven't been crazy but that doesn't mean he's a valid source of information. I don't like A-Rod, but I'd like to be objective when accusing players of using steriods.Comment

Re: Canseco back at it again
I think the fact that Griffey never used steroids makes him the greatest player of our generation (if A-Rod is ever found to have used them). Bonds is immediately off that list the second he took performance enhancing drugs. Griffey seems to be the only one in the past 18 years to have such a stellar career and NOT taken them or at least not linked to them in any way, shape or form.
Yes I know Griffey has been hurt since 2001 and has never fully recovered (eventhough he played most last year and hit 30 and close to a .300 avg). But if you look strictly at the 1990's, at anyone that has never been linked to enhancing drugs, and hands down you come away with Griffey as the best. Sorry, but it's the truth.
Bonds had a chance to be one of the best in baseball for all time but he had to screw it up. He didn't need the home run record to get in the HOF. And he may have still beat it without the roids (although I doubt it but you never know). If Bonds didn't take the drugs and never got injured he very well could be close to where he is today. But again, he ruined it.
EDIT: This post might come off a bit antagonistic but that wasn't the intention. It is really just my opinion so I apologize if it sounds a bit....snotty.Last edited by PhantomPain; 03-25-2008, 05:20 PM.#WeAreUKComment

Re: Canseco back at it again
Look up his stats on baseball-reference.com. For the first 5 years of his career, he was a skinny, opposite field hitter. Heck, even look at his rookie card, he was built nothing like he was later in his career.
Then he went to Texas, got bigger, and started pulling the ball and hitting HR'sComment

Im not ready to believe half of what he said about A-Rod, personally I dont care about his personal life and his "supposed cheating ways" or Jose's insecurities about his wife being chased after by A-Rod, the only thing I will believe is that he introduced him to a supplier and isnt sure if he took roids or not. Jose would have been more believable if he didnt drag so much meaningless garbage into the argument, but apparently there is a lot of pent up anger with the guy.Last edited by The Chef; 03-25-2008, 08:53 PM.Comment

Re: Canseco back at it again
Those few pages are hilarious, real damning evidence in there. I mean seriously: "Jose, man, that Jessica, she must be the most beautiful woman in the world." It reads like a terrible novel to me. I mean what reason could Canseco have to lie? I mean accusing the best player in baseball of doing steriods couldn't help him sell books, could it? And listen to his reason for not putting him in this first book. "I hated him too much." Really? Or more likely, he decided to sell another book and decided to make a bunch of crap up.
Palmerio's career could show signs of steriods usage like a previous poster said. But obvioulsy, simply trying to eye ball stats and the player isn't enough evidence to be sure either way. You can use this argument against anyone. That's not reason to believe Canseco. You could literally accuse anyone and everyone in this forum would go, "Yeah, probably, why not?"Comment
