WHAT THE FUKUDOME?!? - Operation Sports Forums

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you all know OS now has an official Discord that you can join right now. We’ve kicked around Discords for individual games in the past, but it felt like the right time to make it more of an official thing.

Steve and I have wanted to get this going for a bit because we obviously still hear from y’all who are unhappy with some stuff on the forums, plus when there are forum outages we still want to have a place for everyone to hang. My overarching goal for the longer term is to have both Discord and the forums ultimately work together. There are some logistical issues with the vBulletin forums that don’t allow things to sync right with Discord so there will be a little maneuvering as we try to get mods and forum members any proper roles/tags they need on the Discord, but we can work through that stuff easily enough as people join.

Our general goal is to give people more options to interact with OS community members, whether that’s Discord, the forums, this newsletter, or improved apps. If people want to stick more to the forums, that’s cool. If people want to stick more to the Discord, that’s also cool. In my perfect world, we do a lot of BSing and day-to-day chatting on the Discord about games and sports, and then more of the “in-depth” discussions or hefty things like long slider breakdowns or analysis of gameplay end up on the forums so that can act as a sort of “best of” area for anything OS community related. That said, you all will ultimately shape how the ecosystem shakes out, I just want to give you spaces you like so you can have a good time with other folks in the community.

The same general rules will apply on the Discord as they do on the forums, and we’ve brought most of the forum categories to the Discord as well so there should not be too much confusion as you navigate around.

With the Operation Sports and Discord announcement now out there, it’s also worth mentioning our OS premium newsletter, which quietly launched a couple of weeks ago. Built off the Not Just Another Roster Update newsletter, it offers a mix of retrospectives, guides, interviews and deeper dives into the sports gaming world—covering both current and classic titles.

So let's say your team go Ichiro and he went 3 for 3 in his debut after being hyped up during the spring. That's not a reason to be excited? I swear people always gotta bring others down on this board no matter how excited they get about something.

We don't think we're going to win the WS all of a sudden, we're just glad a hyped new Cubs player had a solid debut, and it was a lot of fun to watch. Don't you watch baseball because it excites you? No, that's right, you're above me because the Padres or whoever you root for has been to the WS more recently and I'm just desperate for excitement.

WOW... I'm not a Cubs fan but even I'm excited about watching the guy after that debut.

If you're a baseball fan, that was great to watch. I don't know what would prompt you to make a comment like "Cubs fans need something to get excited about I guess" and put them down for whatever reason.

Any true baseball fan enjoyed that... even a Brewers fan... since they won anyway.

You know what you're right, I'm sorry. It must be all those years of listening to Cub fan walking up and down the stands in San Diego talking a whole bunch of crap just because they have the lead in game in the month of May.

Fuko did real well but Gagne did look horrible lol - pitching and his uni was scrub, even the ump had to tell him to tuck in his jersey

On a side note, did the Brewers miss the Playoffs last year and not see how bad Gagne is? What a terrible signing and probably won't be their closer at the end of May.

The swing he put on that HR was beautiful...

I recommend watching it on the cubs site, if you appreciate that sort of thing....classic swing, perfect.

Let's talk TUFFY RHODES.

I find it comical that we're comparing a japanese player's start to Tuffy Rhodes. Anyone know where Tuffy is right now? I do. He's in Japan and he's one of the most successful foreign players that have ever played in Japan.

Kinda funny... compare a japanese guy to an american and it turns out the american in a star in japan? eh, oh well, the irony........

I've seen Fukodome play for the past 3 years (I'm a japanese baseball fain) and this guy is not a fluke, I say he will hit between 25 and 30 homeruns this year.

As far as Gagné...my predicition : he,s out of a job in june.
