I think I've lost my mind. A guy on a Pirates board that I visit just told me that he's happy the Pirates didn't sign "Flukadumie". This guy is known to make stupid remarks (ie: he predicted the Pirates to win 92 games last year and 87 this year), but the Pirates would be lucky to have a guy like Fukudome.

Re: WHAT THE FUKUDOME?!?
Well tonight's the night the Wife and I have the front row tickets.....bringing the Digital Cam and hopefully getting some very up close hi-res shots of Fuku. Hoping my next avatar will come from the shots, leaving for Pittsburgh in about an hourTwitch - bluengold34_osComment

Re: WHAT THE FUKUDOME?!?
I could see him like a cross between Ichiro and Matsui.....
He seems like a VERY patient hitter.
Matter fact I'm going to make a prediction of his stats....
.313 avg.; 23 HR's; 102 RBI; 70 Walks; .360 OBPComment

Re: WHAT THE FUKUDOME?!?
I will take a higher average...his rbi numbers are going to fluctuate depending on where he is in the order. I don't think he will break 100 this year, but not for lack of trying.
I think 4th would be a nice place for him, but i would do whatever it would take to make soriano produce.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

Re: WHAT THE FUKUDOME?!?
His plate disc is amazing...I think the guys for MLB 08 will ultimately have to adjust his ratings in a future roster....because somethings will be better/worse than they originally thought...I think they got his power spot on tho....his contact too....he looks like he can spray and sprinkle but still hit a bomb when he wants to. he prolly not gonna strike out alot either.Comment

Re: WHAT THE FUKUDOME?!?
What? R u guys serious?
Let me drop some knowledge on ya.....
Things Fukudome will not do this year
Bat over .280
Hit more than 25 Hrs
have more than 95 RBIs
Have more than 200 hits.
Lead the Cubs to winning anything more than a divisional playoff lost.
(well the last one was already common knowledge)
Quote me on this, pull out the stat books at the end of the year, and throw me some praise.
You have been enlightened.Comment

Re: WHAT THE FUKUDOME?!?
yeah...I don't think 25 homers is in the cards...all I want is patience at the plate, high OBP, good defense, durability...
Your disparaging of the Cubs' chances as a team is not well thought out. The NL is, more or less, wide open...there are 6 teams that have a very good shot at making the World Series, 8 if you count teams that have a so-so shot at making the post-season.
The Cubs are very much part of that first group.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

Re: WHAT THE FUKUDOME?!?
The Cubs aren't going to a World Series. They could have an entire team of All-Stars and they would screw it up. They get just enough talent and play just good enough for 2/3 of the year to make us believe they might do something. Then, predictably, they crap on themselves and get hurled into a downward spiral of loserdom for the rest of the way and are forgotten about, leaving Cubs' fans bitter and depressed yet again. I suppose there is the year every 15-20 years where they do win the pennant because every other team goes down in a plane crash, most of their players get bubonic plague, or whatever. Still, the Cubs then lose in the playoffs because God or whatever being you want to worship, simply pulls the strings, and yet again, Cubs fans are left bitter and depressed all over again. Ah, but there's next year, which usually means high expectations but more loserdom and even worse results.
Sigh.......... there isn't a Cubs fan alive who read that and didn't say, "yeah, but.... dangit, you're right.........sigh, I wonder who the Bears will have at QB this year...""Well the NBA is in great hands but if I had to pick the single greatest player on the planet, I take Kobe Bryant without hesitation." - Michael Jordan, 2006Comment
