Re: Collusion
The thing that bothers me is that mostly everybody here is against Bonds, but not anyone else. And I'm not talking about McGwire, Sosa, Palmerio, etc. I'm talking about every other player that has played in the majors the last 20 years. What makes players like Ripken, Gwynn, Bagwell, Biggio, Piazza, etc. better then the rest. Nobody knows whether or not any of these players, or any others, has taken steroids. They just assume that they didn't because there hasn't been anything said about them. I just don't see how anyone can judge one person over another in this era.Comment

While I am a Padre fan, seeing Gwynn's name is just funny. The only steroids that ever got into his body was from all the Popeye's chicken he ate.Comment

Re: Collusion
the OP is the biggest Bonds homer ever so it should be no surprise he would be the one to post this. I remember the BBT crew talked about this very issue on the air once and they could only come up with two or three teams that would have room for him in their lineup in addition to being able to sign him. Bonds would demand at least $15 for a 1-year contract which is absurd for a guy that would probably finish with 25 HR and 70 RBI at the DH spot. He's simply not worth the money he would be asking for, and that is why no team is signing him.Lux y VeritasComment

Re: Collusion
Ha, I know what you mean. I am not implicating Gwynn, just saying that he was a player during this era, and because of that, he should receive the same critical eye that everyone else does because we don't know with any certainty which players "used".Comment

Re: Collusion
Frankly, I'm just angry that the Giants didn't resign him. They've scored three runs in three games, which is pathetic. Instead, we're giving $126 million to a starter that can't locate below the belt and maxes out at 85 miles per hour. Instead, we still pay for some guy named... Rob something, I forget... Drake? Oh wait, Ray Durham. Yeah, the guy that batted .211 last year and is already defensively responsible for three runs credited to Los Angeles in this year. It's already a tie ballgame, 3 - 3.
Combine the fact that the Giants still have yet to homer, Roberts is still crap, and I would be satisfied if we drew a walk every so often or scored a run with less than two outs and a runner on third... I'd say that it's definitely worth $12 - $15 to have him back for one more year. Magowan will soon realize when they return to AT&T Park past Opening Day that he will not put fans in the stands without him.
I understand why no AL team has signed Bonds (because they all have designated hitters), so I can't blame them. But I think the Giants owe him at least one more year to get a chance for 3,000 hits. He's been nothing but decent to the city for the past four years.Last edited by Blzer; 04-02-2008, 11:55 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Collusion
Wow!, Zito is making that much $$$?. That's crazy. He's good, but he ain't great! Oh well, I don't blame Zito, the stupid owner signed him and Zito is a happy puppy!! singing all the way to the bank!!
As for Bonds, he needs to lower the price he's asking for. I'm surprise "The Boss" is not interested in him..lolComment
