Some math related to the slow baserunning...

    (1st time poster)

In MVP movie #2 (from this website), it takes Andruw Jones approx. 5 seconds to reach first base on his double into the corner at Wrigley and 4 more to reach second for a round-trip total of 9 seconds.

Based on this, if we assume an in-game average rate of 4.5 seconds for 90 feet for a decent runner like Jones, you've got a 40-yard dash time of 6.0 seconds, which, anyone will tell ya, is bad - especially for a guy like Jones who would likely be in the mid-4's. Even adjusting for the fact that baserunning isn't necessarily an out-and-out sprint, it's still much too slow.

This sours me on the game a bit, but I'm still leaning towards it due to the clone-bodies and stiff gameplay being offered up by WSB2K3 (call me shallow )

Hmmm, I just re-watched the running tutorial on EASports.com and, as mentioned elsewhere on this forum, the runner on first absolutely cruises around the bases and scores easily on a double to the corner at Dodger Stadium. The batter also goes into second without breaking a sweat. It may have been Dodger Stadium and the ball did take a wicked kick off the wall, but still...This does instill some hope in me that the tutorial videos represent final "adjusted" code.

And you have to remember that it's from a 85% beta preview. So who knows it could be fixed or not...

                we'll know wednesday.

This could be a good point that is raised. I am willing to edit either runner's speed or the outfielders arm strength so that the game plays more realistic in how it is to throw the runners off the basepaths.
