This could only happen in NY

    Yankees avoid a future curse?

I got this from the uni watch blog so just read the main portion as that pertains to this story.

Man if only they put this much effort into other things.

    Who is they? Boston fans?
It's hysterical how much effort THEY(BOSTON FANS) have gone through(until they won 2 series...but obviously they(BOSTON FANS) still have confidence issues) put into trying to break the curse.
I'm no Yankee fan...but I wouldn't want a Boston jersey soiling my new stadium either. Blech
    Heck....people call Shea a sewer....and I wouldn't want one in there.
Oh wait, yes I would good things happen at Shea when Boston jerseys are in there....even though it's been 22 years

Oh and I love Hank Steinbrenner's comment..."I hope his co-workers(New Yorkers obviously) find him and beat the $h!t out of him"
    That's a classic!

I think that guy might've buried Big Papi's mojo by mistake.

me too, it's like a damn soap opera. Who cares. The Yankess are irrelevant and have been for years.

When was their last world seris appereance?

2001, and who beat them? The D-Backs. (well 2003 too, against the Fish right?) I digress, but they lost that one too.

They are two of the highest payroll teams in the game, they should win.

It's like buying a pinto ( the Marlins) and racing it against a Ferari (Yankess, Red Sox), who do you think's gonna win?
Even a ******** kid could figure that one out, "Yankess win , yaaaaay, I pooped my pants"

But every once in a while, the Ferari blows a gasket and the pinto wins, and that gentlemen, is why we love sports.

A team that has made the playoffs every year since 1996 is irrelevant?

And you base that on their World Series appearance?

So are the Diamondbacks irrelevant to you? I mean, they havne't been in the World Series since 2001, years prior to the Yankees.

I'm all for people that don't like the Yankees. You don't have to like them. And you may not even be a Diamondbacks fan, so yea. But, when you, and others, say things like a team is irrelevant because they haven't been to the World Series since 2003 it makes you seem either bitter or very confused.

Well ya know, when you "buy" your way into the post season, only to choke every year, than yeah, it is irrelevant. Every year the Yankess make the playoffs, every year they choke it away. That my friend is the defintion of irrelevance.

I guess the team does take on the persona of their best player, "Mr. Postseason" Alex "show me the money, don't hurt my feelings" Rodriguez.

Sorry, not bitter. Just hate that Yankees fans are so spoiled. Most teams have to earn it. It's given to them every year because they "buy" who they want.

They very seldom bring talent up through the farm system. They just say "hey that guy is pretty good, let's pay him more many than anyone else, and watch him underperform.

Ex. Giambi is MVP-Next year Yankess sign him
Ghey-Rod is MVP- Yankess get him
Mussina win a Cy-Yankees get him

                          Enough already!!

They don't build teams, they steal players and make a band of mercinaries playin for a paycheck

That is why they don't win rings!

You need more than a bunch of hired guns, you need a team.

Uhh, the Yankees signed Giambi 2 years after he was the MVP. Also Mussina has never won a Cy Young. Just keep on digging yourself further into a hole.
