Re: WSB that much better than HH?

I just got WSB so I haven't play it enough to give a final verdict, but from my initial impressions the answer woould be yes. I hate to say it because I have loved HH for years. But the game just looks so much better. WSB is more polished. You can tell that Sega and Blueshift took there time and covered all of the bases on this title. It just seems like 3DO really rushed this one out the box to be the first on the market. So far the timed hitting on WSB doesn't seem to be as good as HH. But that might be because I'm so used to playing HH.
WSB has so many optoins. THe in game save was a hugh difference for me. WIth family and work I ususally don't have time to play a full game. That is what I loved about HH for the PC, the in-games saves. WSB has it, HH doesn't. What was 3DO thinking! In WSB there is actually a warmup meter for pichers in the bullpen. On HH you have to guess when the pitchers warm. A message even appears on the screen telling you that your pitcher is ready to come in. Again, these are little things, but it just shows the attention to detail given by Blue Shift and Sega. And WSB is just so beautiful to look at. It was hard to play HH after playing WSB. It almost like going back the PS after playing the XBox. Lets not talk about the bugs in the PS2 version of HH. I'm just stating my opinion and by no means am I bashing 3DO or HH. I loved HH until this title came along. Who knows, WSB gameplay may not be that deep and after the initial WOW factor wears off, I may find myself back playing the gameplay king HH.

I just returned WSB2K3. I find HH has much better gameplay. It seems that WS is very similar IMO to last years'

I've only had time to play one game of WSB2k3 so far, but I really am uncomfortable with the batting view in this game. I like to play on the "Low" setting in HH because the "Low Zoomed" setting doesn't feel right to me. The "Low" batting view in WSB is very similar to the "Low Zoomed" view in HH. It is difficult for me to "follow the ball to the bat" in WSB. To me the pitcher-batter interface is still better in High Heat.

IMO the animations are also quite jerky in WSB with a lot of twitching, and the flight of the ball is floaty (similar to the floaty ball flight in NFL2k3). This, however, does allow you more time to make defensive plays since there is no auto fielding. I haven't tried the WSB franchise yet, so I can't comment on that.

If the on-field play is not fun then there is no way I will put the time into a franchise. Too early to tell for me though.

As far as gameplay, I've heard HH is much better then WSB. I tried WSB and ASB last year in lieu of HH being MIA for consoles. I wasn't happy with either.

I find HH this year to be OK so far, except that it feels empty in the front office department. I hear WSB really took that extra step this year to get all sorts of goodies into the GM like features of the game. Can anyone who has both comment on which is better?

I will pick up WSB tonight (had MVP) and check the gameplay out with the HH i currently own. Even though I really like HH, I am somewhat in need of a new experience. But WSb would really need to blow me away in the gameplay department for that to happen, but I hope it does. Will know in a few hours.

There is a HUGE difference in the gameplay between this years WSB and last years. No comparison. I could groove a pitch to the CPU last year and it still couldn't hit. This year you'll get blasted. The AI baserunning, which ruined the game last year, has been fixed. Yes, the pitcher/batter are a little stiff, but the position players are smooth. There are trade offs in all games.
