    This game is hard

I went down to the All-Star Level last night and I still haven't won a game.

I'm ashamed to admit this but being a long time HH player I can't play this game. I have no idea when to swing, I can never seem to place my pitches right. The CPU pitching staff always seems to go up 0-1 and 0-2 and I'm sitting there watching pitches go by.

I'm playing with the angels and their starting rotation isn't that good, the relievers are horrible. I'm batting around .225 as a team.

I haven't mess with the sliders too much and don't plan too. I don't know what they did to this game but it's not a cupcake like last year.

        Hey Jrod,

What are your sliders like, and what view are you using?

I hate to say this, but pratice and patience are key this year. Im currently on MVP, and although im not tearing up the league, i do have a win % around .600. Im using the Mets, with the default rosters. I have found that some guys are just easier to hit with than others (Cedeno, Alomar, Floyd, Piazza, Vaughn, & Sanchez) and I have a better feel for these guys than some others on my team. I dont know if it makes sense for you, but if you focus on your best guys, the weaker guys seem to be easier to hit with, because you dont care as much.

Thats my approach, and for me, good things happen because of it. Try it, it may work for you, it may not.

As far a pitching is concerned, throwing balls can be the best thing to do, alot of the time. Changing speeds and location is key, and "keeping the ball away" from the hitter is always important. After saying all of this (which you've probably heard before), the most important thing for me is adapt to each hitter. If I see a guy chasing, then ill make him chase junk.......If a guy is sitting on a fastball, I throw a changeup,.............if hes not swinging at all or fouling pitches off, then I either walk him(no shame in that) or hope i can fool him. Adaptation is how i get by (Struck out Bobby Abreu 4 times in one game this way), and its not just a Nic Cage movie either. On the first pitch, you should be able to pick up what the batter is trying to do.

I hope this helps you some, but i would also suggest you changing the sliders alittle, like lowering CPU hitting and Power to 3 or 4, and yours 1 notch above them. Increase the Pitch Count and Pitcher Control. Those are just some suggestions.

I hope you have a better experience from now on

Good points blaise. Jrod, i noticed a huge difference in batting when i changed my view. I'm not just talking about switchng between, low zoomed, low, medium, etc. I'm referring to actually going into the tune file and changing those numbers so you have a perfect realistic setup.
I was having the same problems as you until somebody told me they had a batting view where it was lined up right through the catchers eyes, making it a little easier to determine balls from strikes. When I started using this, my hits increased dramatically. I'm gonna post the info down below.... notice this is for 'low zoomed' but the tune has been changed so the camera is right infront of the catchers eyes.

hitting camera low zoomed x: -5.75
hitting camera low zoomed y: 3.50
hitting camera low zoomed z: -5.75
hitting camera low zoomed pan: 45.0
hitting camera low zoomed tilt: 92.0
hitting camera low zoomed fov: 65.0

Let me know what ya think

As for pitching... i cant help ya there cause i'm struggling

I feel you....I'm on All-Star and thought I was fairing rather well at 25-20, until I somehow forgot how to play (and especially how to get batters out), and I have since dropped 6 in a row with no end in sight.

Here's the scores I lost by:

                    7-0 to the Marlins
                    12-5 to the Marlins
                    12-10 to the Braves
                    9-7 to the Braves
                    10-1 to the Braves
                    7-4 to the Braves

I never even faced Maddox as they swept me! Luckily, I have the $hitty brewers next, but nothing is given at this point! Nice pitching, huh? May-Day!!!!!!!

I personally think the Low Cam is the best, because the pitches take a good amount of time to get there, and you can pick up the ball better.

Personally, my games (MVP), are around 3-10 runs a game total. Occasionally I get high scoring games, but most of the time its like an avg game.

I think the sliders are there to help you, not to try and cheat, and i would advise you to edit them ever so slightly. Also remember that balance is the key, you must edit sliders that have a direct link between one another, to balance out hte GP

I agree about the challenge of HH. I started out on pro and was getting clobbered. Then i started winning convincingly, winning 4 straight:
                            14-7
                            8-6
                            14-1
                            8-2

I'm playing with the Reds btw, So i felt good about moving up to allstar, 1st game: 4-2 win over the Braves.

2nd game i adjusted all of the baserunning speeds down a notch below default. All the sudden the AI gets pretty aggressive about steals, double steals also, plus my cpu controlled baserunners are now trying for extra bases and getting thrown out.

Anyway, my 2nd game on allstar i get handled by Detroit 12-3. The Tigers were just knocking the low and outside sinkers and sliders for base hits where before they were very effective at getting strikes and setting up batters. Maybe it was a day when my pitchers didnt have their stuff, dunno.

Next game on allstar against Twins, same deal: 13-3 loss. Its like their batters did a scouting report on my pitchers.
But this is all good and i think shows the depth of gameplay thats in HH. Still learning.
