Strider, I will try this when I am at home....but I was playing on medium last night. Cant you start the meter at any time during the pitchers windup? You simply should need to start even sooner. I will try fast speed tonight. The real trick is much like driving a manual stick shift. It is really hard while you are learning because you are thinking about what you are doing. The meter soon becomes second nature and you naturally know when to start holding down the button to start your stride entirely by feel....based on whether your looking for hard stuff or off-speed. Sure, it takes a few pitches each new pitcher because their windup and their velocity is different, but what could be more realistic than that? It is so cool when you realize you started your stride too early looking for the fastball and they flip you a changeup, and you bail out hitting a weak grounder to the infield because you were ahead in your stride and the meter peaked and went back down. It just feels "right". Learning my timing (stride rythm) with each new pitcher has become a game within the game.

Re: Batting:Cursor C/P swings Vs Cursor w/Power Meter
The power pro option is not really explained in the manual. I noticed that you can activate it by using either the power swing or the contact swing...does it matter which one you use? Will either yield the same results, or does the power meter represent a percentage of the type of swing you have chosen? For example, will maxing the power meter using the contact swing only give you a maximum power contact swing?!Comment

] I haven't played it too long, but I've been using the timed hitting. I tried the meter for a couple of batters and couldn't get used to it. Will try to play a game with it today. BTW someone said the timed hitting was just pressing the button, it isn't. It's just like the cursor batting, but without the cursor. You have to move the analog stick to meet the ball. You can swing over and under the ball. I like it though, haven't hit any homeruns yet.

Are you sure about that, the fact that you have to move the stick to meet the ball? That's what High Heat is like, and I really like it. However, everything I have read said that timed hitting is just hitting the button
Also, are there power and contact swings with timed hitting?.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
I am pretty sure that is how it works. Mind you, I have played a game and a half. The reason I say that this is the way it works it this: It has something called "swing text". Basically it tells you whether your swing was too early, late, high, low, etc. When I was just pressing the swing button, the text said at times that I was swinging over or under the ball. When I started moving the stick (instinctively, I might add because I hadn't read the manual) I started making contact with the ball. I'm not going to sit here and defend this to the death, but I believe that's how it works. If anyone who has played longer and disagrees feel free to chime in. I don't know if this is a ugh..."game killer" but it's a great game. As for power or contact swings, to be honest I haven't looked into it, I was just trying to get a feel for the game.Comment

Re: Batting:Cursor C/P swings Vs Cursor w/Power Meter
Okay, thanks Emjay. It wasn't the fact that it would be a game killer. Although it's not my first choice, I didn't mind the cursor hitting in WSB last year. However, I really like the directional hitting (with no cursor) in HH and I was wondering if WSB was the same. I don't particularly care for a pure timing hitting, I think that makes it a little loo easy.
Anyway, thanks for the info.Comment

I've tryed both contact and power swings with the power meter and i haven't seen the difference. However i haven't really played all that much (work)but maybe we can ask Fat Pitcher.
The power pro option is a blast and a lil difficult to get solid hits but very rewarding. I've been caught sitting on a lot of pitches playing the guessing game.
You can start the swing when the pitcher begins the wind up for those that were asking. I was playing the dodgers and had a real hard time timing Nomo.Comment

Re: Batting:Cursor C/P swings Vs Cursor w/Power Meter
sweet!!! if the timed htting requires you to move the bat with the d pad i am getting this game! the power meter in baseball advance was great, the cursor seems great, and now that i know you move the bat with timed everything is great! i am getting this game!!!!

Re: Batting:Cursor C/P swings Vs Cursor w/Power Meter
Bean, the metered batting is identical to Baseball Advance, minus the guess pitch location lock on. It is one of 3 batting options.....and doesnt necessarily expand at all on the system. Nevertheless, if you liked Baseball Advance, just imagine that system with the rest of the game package around it and its pretty great!
Yeah, strider.....when you get used to thinking of it representing your batters stride, it really is just too fun.gt: casey yellowstone PS5Comment
